Publisher's Summary

Psychopaths are everywhere. They are your toxic boss, controlling boyfriend, lazy colleague, annoying mother-in-law and negligent friend - the person who gets away with bad behaviour time and time again. While often superficially charming, they are also rude, aggressive, manipulative, duplicitous and dishonest.

Five per cent of the population is psychopathic, which means they are missing the critical human ingredient of empathy. Because they are programmed to put themselves first, these people routinely disrupt and even destroy relationships and organisations, seemingly without consequence.

Drawing on the latest science, bestselling author David Gillespie offers a detailed and practical guide to identifying the psychopath in your midst, then managing the behaviour to minimise the effect on your family, workplace, friendship group or community organisation.

Not for me

Lacked any real insights for me at all, and was mostly stories that tried to tie things together. Sorry to say it lacked substance

Simple

Struggled because he talks in binaries. Too simplistic throughout, making it irritating to listen objectively to the information, it doesn't feel genuinely in-depth. Anecdotal evidence is provided where research should be placed or at least given to make the reader not feel cheated in legitimate circumstances. I felt like I was indulging the author's simple binary view of the world 95% of the time. I wouldn't recommend this if you have a critical bone in your body.

Incredibly insightful and comprehensive.

David Gillespie has provided extensive research on the history and current dilemma of psychopaths, and even looks to the future if we don't take action. This book was exactly what I needed to give me the tools to deal with the psychopaths in my life and understand why they are the way they are. Thank you for writing this book.

Practical Guide: you as every psycopaths victim

Explains the unexplainable of a psychopaths behaviour.

Unfortunately our society, and humanity's empathy, fosters psychopaths. To deter a psychopath is next to impossible; unless you are one. So what can we do to minimise the harm they cause us? And what should we definitely not do?

This book explains how our actions as Empaths will be 1. used against us and 2. will be interpreted by psychopaths.
For by nature, we are already meat to the lion.

unqualified and anecdotal

a couple chapters in you become aware that it is filled with anecdotal evidence and also that an unqualified individual starts making comlpex analyses.

the evidence he does present is that of other specialists and he then uses their results and conclusions to support his razer thin opinions.

this book was recommended to me but if had known it was the same writer of "sugar is bad" I would have not wasted my time and money on it.
