About this listen
Join this ragtag crew in their quest for justice in a rollicking science fiction adventure across the galaxy.
Some people need a little extra help out of an airlock. At gunpoint.
Reuben Shirano is the worst kind of criminal: smart, ruthless, and with no lines he won't cross. He runs a tight, sophisticated operation backed by the powerful Tsai-Shirano conglomerate, proving time and time again to be untouchable by the system’s governing bodies.
In other words, he’s precisely the type of person Captain Soo-jin Dokgo tries to avoid.
But sometimes, you only get one little chance to bring an asshole to justice. She and the crew of Huli Jing are determined to bring him down and kick him where it hurts.
And if they get some money for their trouble? All the better.
Tall Order is the first book in a new series by bestseller K Gorman, author of The Eurynome Code. It contains one snarky, foul-mouthed captain, her butt-kicking crew, plenty of scifi action, and some questionable decisions.

Sci fi with lots of sass and banter!
Wow, this book! I love, love, loved this story. This is the first book of K. Gorman that I have read and it is absolutely phenomenal. It is an action-packed, fast paced story that gave me Expanse/Killjoys/Firefly vibes but with a strong, sassy, dirty minded FMC - who while not entirely law abiding, has a strong moral compass.
The supporting characters are also incredible: Bob and Zan are hilarious and the first to tease Soo Jin, but they are also fiercely loyal. There is a lot of diversity amongst the characters which I loved. I was also happily surprised to find a 'ship I was really rooting for throughout, with a nice slow burn.
I started out reading an ARC, but the audiobook became available in that time and honestly I can highly recommend in that format as well, it's really well done.
I absolutely cannot wait for the next instalments in the Shadow Host trilogy.
