Publisher's Summary

If you were 99 years old and on your deathbed and were given a chance to come back to today, what would you do right now?

Matt Dahlia was a recent college grad with no direction in his life: his business was dead on arrival and all his friends had left town. He was broke and searching for belonging in a world that didn’t understand him. That is, until he serendipitously met Thomas, who not only felt the same way he did, but had a project in mind: Together, along with two more like-minded strangers, they were going to move into a one-bedroom apartment and film themselves doing 30 things they had never done before in 30 days.

That summer project changed their lives forever: it pushed them out of their comfort zones, bonded them for life, and allowed them to reach a wide audience online. Their journey would eventually become Yes Theory, a massive movement of millions of people living by the philosophy of seeking discomfort.

In this memoir, Matt reveals the extreme highs and lows of Yes Theory, sharing his own along the way. This is a story about the sacrifices it takes to make a dream come true, what happens when a small group of friends suddenly have the attention of millions of strangers online, and what it means to say goodbye when everything seems to be going so well.

But most of all, it’s a reminder to ask yourself that most important question: what do you want out of life?

A peek behind the curtain

I am an AVID yes theory supporter and have been following their journey and mantra for years. This book gives a great, emotional, inspiring and challenging look behind the curtain at the adventures the group went on, and the lessons learnt. It has continued to inspire me to grab hold of my life, as the channel mantra ‘seek discomfort’ stays true. Matt does a great job narrating and displays true reflection and emotion through his writing. Would recommend to anyone wanting to get themselves inspired for the next chapter of their life!

Uplifting story

This book perfectly encapsulates the way a person goes from living the perceived best life to one that truely makes him happy and the trials and tribulations along the way

Life changing epic message

Massive Respect to Matt, Thomas, Ammar, Derin & the Yes theory/Seek Discomfort crew, for getting it done!

This is the most fun, positive, inspirational msg I’ve listened to in a long time. With just the right amount of corny Yes Theory humour..

Enjoyed a couple of good bushwalks, trail runs and beers listening to the book.

*Feel sorry for the poor strangers I bump into over the coming weeks..

Cheers from Australia!!

How to be your authentic self

Absolutely love the boys from Yes Theory! I have been a follower, subscriber, fan and viewer later in the youtube world. I stumbled on one of the videos 2021 and have never stopped watching since. I was soo excited for the book to arrive as I am a book worm. (I don't usually watch too much tv) as I prefer to read. And I was not disappointed. It exceeded all my expectations about their amazing way of telling stories. Mr Dahlia (Matt) you are 'sunshine' in the most darkest of times (for me) and are such a loving, gentle and beautiful soul. Your light is radiant and such warmth. I am sooo grateful to read your astonishing experience in life. Even though we have never met, and do not know of each other, I feel I have a friend. Thank you friend. And congratulations from us here in Aotearoa.
