Publisher's Summary

This book will guide you in starting your own photography business; it's truly an advantage if you are a photographer by profession, but if not, it doesn't mean that you could not open your own business. I can help you get the ball rolling.

Despite the fact that people now own smartphones with great cameras, nothing can beat the skill of professional photographers - they just know the nuts and bolts of taking photos, editing, and printing. They know about the correct angles, the right amount of light, and even the appropriate gestures and expressions. These are just some of the reasons why I'd personally hire a photographer for special events rather than let all the guests or participants take their own photos. Photography services are just more organized and more effective, and they give better-looking images that you can proudly post online. Collectively, this is the reason why photography businesses are in demand.

I know that starting a photography business - any business, in fact - is not a walk in the park. It's also not roses and rainbows; there will be difficulties along the way, and maybe at one point you might even think of quitting. Lower your chances of being discouraged by being equipped - one way to do that is to listen to, savor, and finish this book.

Here are a few things you will learn from this book:

  • The four main markets you should choose from when starting a photography business
  • A list of the investments you should make, including tips and tricks; this includes cameras, lighting, backdrops, etc.
  • How do you legalize your business? What about licenses? Permits? Taxes? What is LLC?
  • A step-by-step guide on how you can promote your business
  • Should you declare copyright on your photos?
  • And much more...

very basic and unrealistic

While the author gives a decent outline about business, his lack of in-depth references, realistic expenses and expectations could be dangerous. Better to spend some time on photography websites like DPreview.com or others.

Incredibly useful book!

Who was your favorite character and why?

N/A

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It's one thing to be able to take great photos but to be able to turn it into your career requires another skill set. This book gives a good road map to start a photography career.

Any additional comments?

Incredibly useful book! In the modern world is not enough to be good at taking photos, still need to be able to sell their work and to build on this business. This book will teach to turn your hobby into a profitable business.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I was surprised to find out that not only does this book define terminology related to cameras and technology, but it also covers sales tax and LLC so you get a good idea of running an actual business, not just doing freelance work.

This book is basically a guide for beginners who is new in this profession or for those who take photograph. I highly recommend this book for anyone in the business or thinking of getting into the business.

Take a Leap of Faith and Start a Photography busi,

This book is really great because it gives all the steps you need to start your own business, and good tips for the type of equipment you need and in some cases the costs of it, so you can have from the start a pretty good idea how much your investment can be for this business. Well done!

I recommended this awesome book!

Any additional comments?

I recommend this book to anyone who is getting into photography or may want to learn to get more out of their photography. Be warned however that if you buy or want to buy some of the gear suggested on the book it could cost you a pretty penny. If you want a straight forward photography book. This is it. It's the best photography book I ever had.

Great guide and explanation.

I think this book contains good points, I will not focus on the structure of it, grammar or the wide spacing used because I would not be able to give 4* but maybe 2, now I will just focus on the content which for me was useful, it provides with good tricks to be able to obtain amazing shots, it describe the best angles and cameras to start up with your photography passion business. cent% recommend it.

A Beginner's Guide....

Any additional comments?

I have a DSLR camera that I bought last year and I want to use it to gain money even a little. I looked at the internet for simple tips and tricks that I can apply on my camera. I saw this book while looking for guides in photography. I learned that this kind of business is a little expensive based on this book but it is a good investment someday. This book taught what to do and what I need in this kind of business. The step-by-step are not clear to me and I think it needed examples on every step.

Good for beginners!!

I purchased this book for my best friend who is an amazing photographer and I think she should really start making money from this. While selling stock photos is a good income source there are a number of other possibilities and good ways to make a living like a photographer. I listened the book and I think it covers pretty much everything one needs to know when starting a photography business so I would definitely recommend it.
