Publisher's Summary

Adventure. It's what my boring life is missing, so when I fall through a portal into another world, I'm excited. Here, I'm important. Here, I'm special.

I find out just how special when I meet Death. He's been exiled to the mortal realm to work through his flaws, and he's just as spoiled and awful as you'd think. Rhagos, the Shadow Lord, is arrogant and rude and controlling and demands to get his way. He's selfish. He's impossible.

He's also utterly gorgeous. Magnetic. Lonely. And strangely protective of me.

Thanks to a magic bond, I now serve him as his anchor to the mortal realm. It means that I'm his conscience, his guide...and the target for any assassin or glory-seeker. After a few days of this, I'd rather go home than continue on this adventure.

As the world falls down around us and we're hunted simply for existing, I find myself wondering what it'd be like to serve the lonely god of death...in all ways. To kiss him. To touch him. To bed him.

Except...I'm supposed to be finding a way home, not trying to kiss Rhagos. No matter how tempting he is. No matter how much he stares at my lips. No matter how much I want it.

Contains mature themes.

***I never want it to end***

I loved this book it's a lil less aggressive and demanding than book 1 but it has its own appeal. Max and Rhagos are perfect together she grounds him and makes him more humane if that's the right word for it. Jillian Macie thank you for your excellent narrative. You give life to each characters uniquely and you made them UNFORGETABLE thank you.

Second adventure is even better than the first!

Basically Kylo Ren is the lonely god of death. He realizes that he could have a lovely anchor to spend eternity with just like the god of war now does. He bargains to get another chance at the ascendence but things don’t go quite the way he expected - he falls in love while doing nothing but deceive the object of his affections. And breaking all kinds of rules along the way. I actually wanted to reread the first 8 hours after we find out “which” Death Kylo is. There is an epic adventure with lots of misdirection and flirting and misunderstandings and new things learned etc. I loved this book more than #1 because it was heads and tales more romantic (there’s great sex and smut but I felt way more emotion from Kylo than from Aaron). Ruby did a great job showing his feelings in small ways throughout this epic tale! Best of all... Kylo finally gets what he deserves.. HIS HEA!!!!

Look past the cover, it’s an amazing story!

Just like Bound to the Battle God, this has everything-well developed characters, a thought out story (not super predictable like you’d expect), nothing is rushed yet I didn’t get bored at any point. I truly love this storyline and can’t wait for the next book.

Dixon at her best

First, ignore the cover. I promise you the story is worth it. Dixon has a thing for these covers, and honestly, I blew her work off because of them for so long. Now, I've binged all her work and this series is the best of her work. I expected to have a similar adventure story as in book 1 - going out and killing the other aspects, waging war, etc... But nope. Dixon is pretty creative, and we have a completely different story here. In some ways, it was a lot tamer - less battle, etc... but I think the connection between Rhagos and Max was so well done. They are different people and therefore their adventure would reflect that. I loved Rhagos - maybe a smidge more than Aron. Regardless, this was a 5 star book and I cannot wait for the next one.

WOW! Even better than the first book!

I LOVE Ruby Dixon. If you like paranormal romance, she is like fresh air in a repetitive genre. Her main character is always relatable and funny. This series is kind of like Kristen Ashley's Rising series with hotter sex. Sworn to the Shadow God provides more of world-building than Book 1 that is woven into the romance. The male lead is a different aspect, and the story takes place is new cities within Eos. The female lead is a virgin (ugh), but not in an annoying way at all. The book is definitely worth a credit.

Good follow up book

Overall I really liked this story. Max drove me crazy, but that had a lot to do with the character having a lot of TSTL moments and the narrator choosing a whiny nasally voice for her. Ruby Dixon is a very talented author and even when I’m not 100% on board with a character I still enjoy the overall story. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Love this series - Worth the credits!

This series is Dixon’s best! Real personalities with real reactions. Complex story with many plot points. Realistic emotional/relationship development. Overall, believable characters that make the story so much more enjoyable than most books out there. I’m excited for the next books in this series! Great narration, too.

Delving deeper into the Mythos of Eos

I've yet to read a title (or listen to) from Ruby Dixon that I haven't loved. This one is such a heartwarming story of love and loyalty that the world needs. I love listening to a book filled with snark and humor and this one definitely delivers without compromising the story and the qualities that drew me in. I highly recommend this story for anyone that loves love. The ONLY point I would note that I would change about this book is that I do prefer to read books that are narrated by both a male and a female, but in this case, it didn't lose anything for the lack of it. Jullian Macie does a wonderful job of bringing Max and Rhagos to life. Its a long long book at 77 chapters, but well worth it!

Not as enjoyable as all other Ruby Dixon books

The story itself was fine, although slow to warm up. My main problem was with the female character Max, she is so whiney and annoying i wanted to smack her. Most of the time she sounded like a pathetically whingey naive teenager.. Not a very likeable. I think I'll give the Gods series a miss if more are written. If i remember thinking much the of the first book... Very slow to get going, not like those super sexy messakah guys.
