Publisher's Summary

Surviving Pilates is written for Pilates instructors. Pilates is an improvisation of Contrology. Contrology is the method of Joseph Pilates. Surviving Pilates is about a theory of Contrology that explains Contrology and gives the Pilates instructor an understanding of what the method is so they can survive what has become of Pilates. Pilates has evolved into whatever you want to say it is. There is no essence, only improvisation. That’s how Pilates started out when Joseph Pilates died and it has only continued to evolve away from the essence of Contrology.

It’s about the money. As folklore you can make money teaching Pilates saying it is whatever you claim it to be. The evolution of Pilates continues to morph into subjective nonsense. Surviving Pilates will help you to go back to Contrology and find the essence in Contrology that was left out of Pilates. As a teacher, you can survive what is happening to Pilates by deepening your understanding of where Pilates came from, what Pilates couldn’t or didn’t carry forward from Contrology because they were unable to or didn’t want to because it got in the way of making money.
