Publisher's Summary

The hysterical, shocking and incredibly intimate memoir from one of the most original and unique comedians alive today.

Hello! I’m Brian Limond, aka Limmy. You might know me from Limmy’s Show. Or you might not know me at all. Don’t worry if you don’t.

They asked me to write a book about mental health, because I sometimes talk about my mental health in tweets and interviews, like suicidal thoughts and anxiety, and what I’ve done to try to deal with it.

I said to them, oh, I don’t know if I could fill a whole book with just that. But how’s about I write a general autobiography type of thing, and all the mental health stuff will naturally appear along the way? I could talk about growing up and slashing my wrist and taking acid all the time and getting done for car theft and feeling like a mad freak that would never amount to anything.

And then how I made my own sketch show. I directed it and everything. Plus I’m a dad. I’m an adult. But I still feel like that mad freak from years ago. I still feel like chucking it all away, for a laugh.

I asked them if they wanted me to write about all that, plus some other stuff. Like being an alky. And my sexual problems. Stuff like that.

They said aye.

So here it is.

This is the best book I've ever read/listened to

I absolutely loved Limmy's book. I've never related to anything so strongly in my life. I couldn't put this book down and I hope you're doing well now, Limmy!! You are an inspiration for everyone, not just those who struggle with mental illness. Great book.

Beyond words

Incredible story, incredible man. Love you Limmy, you've no idea how much your story moves people and gives me them hope. Keep working, and make sure you keep up cooking dinner - it gets addictive, who doesn't like home cooked food?? Come to Australia for a book tour sometime, I'll be waiting 👏

Great coming of age story

Limmy's unique point of view polishes the more interesting stories within. This is a book best read by having it read to you by limmy. Helps with the context of the Glaswegian words too which leads to a great bait and switch. ;)

Funny, poignant, informative

Limmy fans should definitely check this audiobook version out, as it's read by the man himself. I really think Limmy is one of the great comic heroes of our times though admittedly some people I've showed him to 'don't get it'. I guess he's one of those personalities you'd describe as having a cult following of rabid fans. Kind of like the band Devo. There were some laugh out loud moments in this book and also some stifle back the tears moments. It's actually quite a sad tale as he goes into a lot of his mental health issues and general malaise. There are lots of comical sex scenes too. Overall I loved it and smashed through it in one day (in my office cubicle) without stopping. GET IN!!

Hilarious, touching, enlightening, and very human.

A very fun listen. If you're already a Limmy fan then you'll love every bit of it and you'll enjoy all the call backs and further info on parts of the Limmy lore. It's a refreshingly candid look into mental health and depression that most people could benefit from giving a listen. Very funny and surprisingly down to earth indeed

Limmy's Book

Fucking great. Learned that "greetin" means crying. 10/10.

Super relatable the way he describes mental health. I only recently got into this dude's comedy but I think I'll be a fan for life after this book.

Disarmingly Honest and fun

I love Limmy for his sketches, his streams, and for his interviews and podcasts I’ve listened to. Didn’t expect to love this book as much as I did though. His stories are charming and insightful, and his delivery helps the darker bits land more like parables our a friend telling you a story he’d finish with “could ya believe that?”.

Great stuff, highly recommend—especially if you’ve had troubles with your head

A heartfelt introspective on the life of Limmy

Brian narrates his own life in what feels like an old friend telling you everything you've missed since you've last seen him. A surprisingly relatable look into the struggles of self-awareness, love, and the constant challenges of mental health.
