Publisher's Summary

Vulnerability is not knowing victory or defeat - but understanding both of them are necessary.

This guide will lead you through the book Daring Greatly, by Brené Brown.

In her book, she explains how the courage to be vulnerable transforms the way we live, love, parent, and lead. Vulnerability permeates all areas of our lives. If you aren’t opening yourself up to vulnerability, you’re not truly living.

This summary will debunk some of the most common vulnerability myths:

  • Vulnerability is weakness
  • I don’t do vulnerability
  • Vulnerability is letting it all hang out
  • We can do it alone

You will also learn some of the most common types of vulnerability armor and how to disarm yourself from them:

  • Foreboding joy/practicing gratitude
  • Perfectionism/appreciating imperfection
  • Numbing/setting boundaries, finding comfort, and cultivating spirit

Of course, before you can become vulnerable, you must learn to understand and combat shame and blame - and ultimately disengagement. This guide will help you to understand all of that and so much more!

Most Informative.

This is an amazing look into what each of us knows about ourselves, but most of the time will not admit openly, or silently in our heads.

A important part of our life.

As long as you are truly open to it, this book can be truly trans formative. The author has an extraordinary way of expressing complex concepts, baring her own soul, and especially using humor and her humanness to reach people.

Wow! great book.

It's really about taking risks and letting ourselves be vulnerable in order to have any kind of life at all. Keeping your life and heart all locked up for protection, gets you nowhere.

One of the best.

This is one of the hardest books to read because of its subject matter. It's also excruciating to implement.

Life changing.

This was a very bold listen. It had me questioning the way I do a lot of things and examining everything from a vulnerable standpoint. I really enjoyed it and plan to re-listen it more than once!

Strange.

It looks at life from a completely different and valid perspective. It has been very helpful in showing me how to push past the usual roadblocks that life, human nature and our own personalities throw at us.

Excellent overview.

In a culture where we never have enough, and always want more, many people are deeply unhappy and hurting inside. We compare ourselves to others - to what they have and to what they do, and we never live up to what we think we see.

Robotic voice

The content was great but the robotic style and tone of voice was jarring. It actually took away from the experience. The style did not suit the topic and content which is about authenticity and vulnerability, it felt impersonal and mechanical which is far removed from how Mrs. Brown writes.
