When a catastrophic explosion kills an estimated 30,000 people in the region of southeast New Mexico and surrounding areas, the military is tasked to find out exactly what happened. Six assessment teams are sent into the blast zone to investigate but are utterly annihilated by an unknown presence.
After a series of devastating military defeats which kills close to 1,000 more, General Pierce finally sends in a unique 4-man team led by Captain Phillips, aka Hopper, on a suicide mission to capture one of these mysterious entities. Hopper is the sole survivor.
As a result of the knowledge gleaned from the capture, Hopper is requested to volunteer for a second suicide mission to destroy a newly discovered power source emanating from deep within the Carlsbad Caverns of New Mexico.
