Dette er den tredje bog i Tove Kjarvals serie "Stjernerne synger" om en kvindeskæbne i København omkring 1800. Tove Kjarval (1880-1958) var dansk forfatter og redaktør. Hun skrev en lang række romaner, der er blevet udgivet i flere lande. Fra 1933-36 var hun redaktør på ugebladet 'Ude og Hjemme', og hun producerede hørespil til radioen og var bidragsyder til flere ugeblade, magasiner og aviser.
