Summary
Den midaldrende Andreas kommer tilfældigvis til at sidde ved siden af den unge Rebecca ombord i et fly. Hun får hans kort, og opsøger ham i København. Her kommer hun i snak med romanens fortæller, Sophia, der bor i samme opgang som Andreas. Andreas begynder at opføre sig bizart over for Rebecca, og Sophia kan se, at han forsøger at få hende til at ligne sin første kone, der til hans store sorg døde meget ung.
