Exactly right

If you love the podcast, you'll love this. It's all about the two women who make us laugh, cry and feel less alone. Less murder, more vulnerability. Loved it.

Honesyt & Compelling

An honest and compelling set of life lessons from the lovely women who bring you the podcast My Favorite Murder. A little more a 'how to' than a true crime novel, but nevertheless as riveting and worth listening to. Stay sexy, don't get murdered and stay out of the forest!

More than I’d hoped for - and I had high expectations

I truly love what these two women do with their podcast, yet I was delighted with just how exceptional this book is. I wish I’d had access to their insights when I was 20, however, I still benefited from them at 47. I can’t wait to share them with my daughter who is 15. Buy this unique, affirming, funny, wise book.

Perfect!

I went into this book knowing I would like it as I absolutely love the podcast and thoroughly enjoy when Georgia and Karen share anecdotally. This was even better than I expected. In fact, I loved it so much that I bought it in audiobook form and on paperback! They both did a wonderful job writing their own stories in an engaging and interesting way, incorporating comedy and their intrigue of murder seamlessly. If anyone hasn't read this yet you absolutely should, even if you haven't listened to the podcast (although I think you should do that too!). You will definitely not be disappointed by either authors writing or narration and the live readings throughout the book are a lovely and unexpected surprise that makes the audiobook even better!

Made laugh, cry, and reflect deeply (thanks Karen & Georgia)

Basically everything you’d expect and more from these lovely ladies. It was a true privilege to get an insight in to their lives like never before and learn so much. One part in particular near the end where Georgia speaks about her dad made me unexpectedly cry in a way I didn’t know I could, and Karen’s section on how to be a latchkey kid was something I didn’t expect to resonate with so deeply. What a beautiful book, and a must read for all.

it's wonderful. I hope they write another book!

It is a wonderful book. it takes a minute to get used to the different feel, but then it's so nice hearing these heartfelt stories told by two of your favorite people (and Paul Giamatti). oh and a cameo by Marty! 😄 I definitely cried more than once. I'll be listening many times for sure! SSDGM

I'm sad it's over, I loved it so much. It felt I was with my friends, listening to their stories...just like their podcast. The book was insightful, delightful and so relatable. I hope there will be a second book. I love you Karen & Georgia! You have no idea what a difference your podcast & book has made to my life!

Amazing

I never knew I could feel like I was a part of something so amazing, although I live in South Africa and it seems so far away I feel a deep connection with Karen and Georgia and all the wonderful murderinos! THANK you for your honesty and your vulnerability with the deeply personal things that sometimes seem to be too scary to share! You guys are amazing

I cried most of the way through but in a good way

Upfront I’ve gotta say: if you don’t love Karen and Georgia or their podcast or their accents then this isn’t for you. (I mean you should think about that because they’re objectively wonderful but that’s between you and your therapist).

I loved the references to their famous quotes, and how their anecdotes linked so cleverly to each chapter. I love that some of the parts are recorded from live readings, the audience being there feels a bit like the live show podcast episodes and I love it.

I respect their vulnerability, honesty and ability to share the sides of themselves that don’t make them look good. But sharing those things actually makes me know they are GREAT because they’ve put vanity aside so that we can all relate and feel better about the shitty parts of ourselves.

Anyway. I bought it yesterday and have listened twice so what more can I say?

Nothing new here

You won't really learn anything new from this book, I was hoping for more memoir and less self help. It's fine, it's pretty much just what you get on the podcast and stories you've already heard.

This book is everything!

Karen and Georgia have created a space in which mental health, fascinations with the macabre, being vulnerable and making mistakes are all okay, and are bringing more people to the table to show who they are and what they stand for. I’m so proud to be part of this incredible community of listeners, and the book reflects what they stand for entirely.

Brave, beautiful, funny, emotional, and unashamedly themselves. Thank you Karen and Georgia for sharing your vulnerability with us and for giving us an insight into your own experiences; leading the way to show other badass women that you can do anything you put your mind to!

Bravo ladies, bravo!

Loved this booked. Listened to it in 1 day. You've both written something funny, personal, entertaining and special. Which, no pressure, is exactly what we've all come to expect from your general brilliance. Thank you

Exactly right

Genuine, hilarious, nostalgic and deeply relatable, this audiobook was a perfect listen and a must for any listeners of MFM. Georgia and Karen reading their parts of the book themselves made this audiobook extra special due to the personal and vulnerable topics covered. Karen’s witty play-by-play of a typical latchkey kid afternoon made me laugh and talking about her mother and dementia made me cry and call my mum just to say hi.

From start to finish, this was just fantastic - there were moments where I'd be walking to or from work, struggling to hide my laughter and fighting back tears. A genuine, heartfelt experience and motivational in ways hard to describe. I'd recommend this book to anybody

Funny, articulate and charming

Reminded me why I love this podcast and these two woman. Absolutely binge-listened to this, and loved hearing all the stories which are all alluded to in the podcast, in a more in-depth way. Both have a lovely storytelling style, and listening to the audiobook version was like one long bloody brilliant episode of the podcast. Thank you ladies, some really heartwarming and important messages, as well as plenty of sass.

so beautiful, just beautiful.

I would recommend everyone and anyone to read this book, it is so nuanced, as well as heartbreakingly relatable. I am a murderino through and through, but this brought much more to the table than what I'd anticipated, so well written (and narrated). Just beautiful.

Look. Listen.

I had been binging MFM podcast since around April of 2018, taking into account the 2 years of episodes I'd missed I devoured their back catalogue within a month. When I was about a month in, I heard they were writing a book and so I preordered it straight away. When it arrived I couldn't wait to read it but I get terrible migraines and reading is now a challenge. I decided to sign up for the free trial and the first book I added to my library was this one. It's definitely a book for fans of the podcast. It's focus is the backgrounds of the hosts, Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark and how they came together to share their love true crime with each other and the rest of the world. Without giving too much away (that hasn't already been discussed during the podcast) there are a lot of very touching moments that reduced me to a sobbing mess (Karen's story about her mother) and hilarious moments (Georgia's natural comedic timing) and the randomness of Paul Giamatti's narration of the Best Swears. Thoroughly enjoyable and one for the fans of our true crime heroines.
