As much as I thought I knew how the story would go, and how it would end, I was pleasantly surprised. The basic story arc was predictable - but so much else was not. I was often surprised by what happened next.

The story is unique within the Star Trek universe, and with so many TV series over the decades spanning several seasons of content each ... that's saying a lot. I enjoyed learning about the unique alien races.

It's a long tale and sometimes a bit predictable, but a fun story that covers a long period of time. It takes a fair amount of time to flesh out the characters and make them real. The ending wasn't nicely wrapped up in a bow, which I also appreciate. Life is not like that.
Kudos to the reader. Mel Blanc would have been proud.

This is an amazingly rich tale. Rich in detail, drama, action and wonderfully unique for a Trek adventure. The new alien species' are fantastic and the scenarios are very dramatic.
