Ahead of its time, incredibly imaginative. What it lacks in literary skill (frequently dipping into passive voice and tracts of summary) and cultural sensitivity (Eurocentric to the core) it makes up for with vast scope and poetic brilliance.

The scope of this book is unprecedented, from the birth of the cosmos's to the end of creation, it is both a Scifi writers text book and a philosophical prose. I have read/ listened to this book many times and will do so many more. Olaf Stapledon is a criminally underrated mind of the 20th century.
