Perché tutti i racconti, anche quelli di sport, nascono con la voglia di rispondere ad alcune domande.

Al congresso della Sorbona del 1894, il barone Pierre de Coubertin annunciò per la prima volta l'idea di recuperare gli antichi Giochi di Olimpia, partendo da Parigi e dall'EXPO, già programmata nel 1900, sei più tardi. "Concorsi internazionali d'esercizi fisici e dello sport".

L'idea viene accolta con entusiasmo, ma sei anni parvero un periodo di tempo troppo lungo, così fu deciso di indire la Prima Olimpiade ad Atene, nel 1896, in attesa di Parigi. 'Un miracolo che il movimento olimpico sia sopravvissuto a questo disastro', commentò più tardi lo stesso de Coubertin. Non contente delle discipline proposte - le più consone gare di aquiloni e di tiro al piccione - per la prima volta nella storia, 22 donne ottennero di partecipare ai Giochi, alla pari degli altri 1211 atleti uomini. Le maschie porte dell'Olimpo sportivo erano state forzate da 22 maledette femministe. Una di queste si chiamava Charlotte Cooper. Tennista. Inglese. E sorda.

the character might seem over talkative for a long part of the story, it is only in the end that you realise she has to fill the vacuum with her inner voice: tender and surprising way to represent isolation.
