Publisher's Summary

When old secrets catch fire, everything will burn.

In a mortal world colonized by the gods and ruled over by their cruel offspring, the Descended, Diem Bellator yearns to escape the insular life of her poor village.

Her mother's sudden disappearance—and the discovery of a dangerous secret about her past—offer Diem an unexpected opportunity to enter the dark world of Descended royalty and unlock the web of mysteries her mother left behind.

With the dying king's handsome, mysterious heir watching her every move and a ruthless mortal alliance recruiting her to join the growing civil war, Diem will have to navigate the unwritten rules of love, power, and politics in order to save her family—and all of mortal kind.

Spark of the Everflame is the first book in The Kindred's Curse Saga, a four-book epic fantasy romance series that follows our feisty, bad*ss heroine Diem Bellator in her fight against injustice and oppression, her struggle to survive in a royal palace full of betrayal and intrigue, and her journey of self-discovery and finding true love. This slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers series is perfect for fans of unique magic systems, dragons and other mythical creatures, angst and romantic tension, and hilarious banter.

Wow, just wow.

This book came up as a recommendation in Kindle, i hadn't heard of the author or book. HOW??? How is no one talking about this?? Great plot, FMC is a sassy badass, the prince is a broody protective masterpiece and the writing is womderful. If youre looking for a spicy book, there wasnt any in this one but the story holds its own. Definitely will recommend to others. The only downside is that the audio does not release with the book. Very frustrating as a listener but otherwise great read. Here i come book two!!!

Great story! A bit repetitive.

I think the story builds well. It’s a bit repetitive at times and you can hear the narrator swallow often but you slowly get used to it. She did good voices though that were easy to differentiate.

slow

it takes too long to get to the good bits. To much detail. The main character is irritating as constantly jumping to conclusions.

Great voice acting! MFC annoying!

Fantastic voice acting from Amanda Dolan!! She honestly is the only reason I kept listening, but I am a little glad I did. I found the internal monologuing of the main character to be repetitive and extremely illogical. I think it was supposed to be because she is young, but my god! It was frustrating and very tedious. Honestly skipped some middle chapters and understood the end with out issue or loss of understanding.

Interesting!

I’m captured by the magic and the characters and I have sooo many questions. This book was definitely interesting, I’m glad I can just read the next book straight away as it would have driven me insane to wait. On to the next book to hopefully get some answers. The narrator was fantastic and very animated which made the intense parts even better.

Pretty good YA fantasy

3.5 stars. It started really well - the world is interesting and unique and Diem was a great character. Lots of set up for the rest of the series. The pace really slowed down and became repetitive in the middle and Diem was making frustrating decisions. I’m not sure if I’ll continue the series.

very cool world

I don't know why this books not as popular as some others in this genre, it's fantastic. yes a bit predictable, but the ride it takes you on completely makes up for it, and I think the predictable bits are meant to clue the reader in anyway. great main character, world and all the things.

Better than Reckless

This is by far the best audiobook this year. The narrator was great, the storyline and writing excellent. I’m so happy that I can get my hands on the next one immediately 😊
