In the 2nd book poor Laney discovers more about her heritage, and suffers more consequences. 2 years have past since the time she was discovered. There are many more pieces of the puzzle that are put together.
Personally I love that the main character and her partner aren't the focus but more a side story of the character, beautifully written and wonderfully narrated i recommend any one give this series a shot. I fell in love with the first and the only disappointment is that it ends, but don't fret there are 6 books in the series available on audible. I am up to the 5th and I am not disappointed yet.
