Story
Udo's biggest problem isn't being a digger (that's low class), or staying drunk (that's damn expensive), or avoiding the Dwergaz (they're monsters), or even pissing off the supposed Gods. It's that his reality...well, it isn't what he thought. And now, he can't even afford to drink because his so-called friend Nicz is cutting into his business, digging up tin, iron, and copper. So Udo forms a new plan: clay. After all, clay jars are used to store everything: meat, herbs, and, his personal favorite, ale.

The enemy is coming. The enemy is already here. For years they’ve prepared, plotted, and planned. For years they’ve waited to strike from above and below. Earth is under siege. The enemy covers the landscape. Proxima is unharmed. But that’s about to change. No armies can stop this menace, and no defenses can slow the advance. We are scattered and isolated. We are ignorant and weak. No help is coming. No help remains...or does it? Old heroes will sacrifice everything. New heroes will rise.

Story
The philosopher asks: "Faced with the mutually exclusive choice between moral principle and the survival of your family, which is the correct path?" Philosophers love to pose such questions, and in the day-to-day struggle, such thinkers rarely attain to a level of relevance rivaling that of the simple hunger pang. Their careful considerations dissipate under the leveled gun. We do not feel their disapproving gaze when The Others draw near. When the world sends doom, the survivors do not hesitate. The survivors do what is necessary.

Story
Contains books 1-3 of The Forgotten. Sheriff Hayden Duke was born on the Pilgrim, and he expects to die on the Pilgrim, like his father, and his father before him. That's the way things are on a generation starship centuries from home. He's never questioned it. Access points to the ship's controls are sealed, the systems that guide her automated and out of reach. Until a malfunction forces his engineer wife to the edge of the habitable zone to inspect the damage. Until she contacts him, breathless, to tell him she found a body, and it doesn't belong to anyone on board.

Story
The survivors have come to settle in the mountains of Wyoming, fighting day in and day out to establish a home for themselves in a near-empty world. Things are good at first; scavenging is a workable, short-term solution that seems to be providing all they need. But they know that it’s only a matter of time before the food runs out. They need to scramble to find a sustainable solution before the clock stops, and for a little handful of people up in the mountains, the odds don’t seem very favorable.

Publisher's Summary
From the award-winning author of the Commune series and All Gifts Bestowed comes this mind-bending new science fiction novel.
As a high school sophomore, Aiden Kelly's biggest problems should be his failing grades, his abusive father, being a self-proclaimed loner, or getting pummeled by the football team. Instead, Aiden's number one dilemma is a guy named Tony, a senior who seems to know all sorts of things that should be impossible to know.
Oh, and he may also be a sociopath. So, you know: No. Big. Deal.
When Aiden crosses Tony's path in the vice-principal's office, they form a mysterious connection, and only Tony knows the truth about it. But as their friendship grows, the strings of destiny tying their lives together slowly begin to unravel with deadly consequences.
Now, Aiden must decide which is worse: to return to his degenerate, loner existence, or experience the friendship of a lifetime - where one of them might not survive.
With a heavy foot grounded in realism and characters that leap out of the audio, Something No One Knows is perfect for fans of The OA, Sense8, and The Butterfly Effect.

Captivating
Anyone who ever went to school will relate in some way to some part of this story. As someone who didn't particularly enjoy school some of the subject matter was quite poignant and somber. However this in no way prevented me from enjoying every minute. Excellent, fully fleshed characters as I now expect from Josh and brilliantly narrated by readers who I wasn't familiar with but will now look out for. And there is certainly at least one thing I still don't know... or don't think I do...

So disappointed
Commune was such a great series I was stoked to see a new book by Joshua Gayou, Man was I ever disappointed - what a load of drivel. This book is a celebration of self indulgence, chock full of pointless teen angst. The characters lack depth, the story is shallow and doesn’t evolve, making weak leaps that are entirely unbelievable.. I would not waste your credit, i

Best yet from JG
A tremolo that grows into a bittersweet gail. This story starts slow and builds relentlessly towards an oddly disjointed conclusion that somehow works. Without explaining this sentimental story, it differs from JG's other novels. Where Commune explores resilience and the toll it takes, Udo and Gifts the cost of belief; "Something" examines the rewards of of each. While topographically and semantically unrelated to Steven Kings 11.22.63, I felt this story held much in common with its core themes. If that story touched you, this is for you. There are a few plot gaps, unreconciled threads and a finale that felt a little more like an epilogue than an ending. Though I could argue given the nature of the story and the characters, it made sense. I missed RC Bray's performance, but the actors were superb and I'll not be able to recall this story without hearing their voices as proper and right. JG - this is a beautiful novel that demonstrates your ability to spin yarns that are diametrically opposed from one another, while each remaining unforgettable. Thank you.

Moving, Feeling Will Be Had
I have come to love the writing style of Josh Gayou. Has a way of making character development interesting. His style is usually in a first person narrative format and when he does that he shines. This book is not Commune or Udo the Digger. This book is about people and it has an interesting scifi twist that doesn't overshadow the characters who you will empathize with. Gayou taps into all of our formative years in high school. He adds a coming of age story that at times feels so personal I wanted to tell the character it would be OK. Just as I started to empathize with Aidan and worried he would become a school shooter, in came Tony. I felt for Tony. His last letter to Karen was amazing. As I fell into the writing and the heartbreak excellently narrated by the trio of actors(actress) I was surprised how much I needed to hear more about them to make sure they made it. It isnt a simple story. It is deep, beautiful, and deserves the credit it is due. Josh Gayou's stories are inventive and human, which is what draws me to his characters, even those as alien as Udo or as sociopathic as Jake. I would give this book 10 stars if I could.

Thank you Joshua Gayou
I have listened to over 220 books in the last 4 years and nothing has moved me quite like this coming of age story. This book is very relatable and I went through many similar experiences as these young adults. Joshua Gayou's ability to develop characters reminds of Stephen King. Great company to be in. Thank you, I look forward to your next.

Interesting most of the time but tediously drawn out and almost boring. Probably got more out of the ending - well relief the craziness and drawn out whatever was over

Caliber of "A Prayer for Owen Meany"
First time ever writing a review. This was a special book and performance. The perspectives of the characters, their language, their existentialist flavor led me to thoughts and feelings of my first John Irving novel. Incredible work Joshua. Should you choose to write and publish more. I shall purchase and read more. This is a very good author stretching his stride after 3 miles of warmup trotting and nowhere near full sprint. Listeners will be most rewarded for their time spent.

A great ORIGINAL story
It’s so rare to read/listen to a story and really feel like it is original. I bought this book with fairly high expectations because I am a big fan of the author’s previous work, and it actually exceeded them. A truly great story, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I rarely review anything, not books, amazon purchases, or Airbnb’s. But I had to put in my 2 cents for this book. Buy it, then get Commune, his first book. You won’t regret it.

It takes a while for this inventive, sentimental coming of age story to get going, but it is worth the investment. The characters are interesting and relatable; I found it easy to empathize with them. The cast of narrators were excellent. Worth sticking with it
Interesting premise, kind of a Freaky Friday / 17 again meets 11.22.63, that said Joshua took a long time to get there. i found that there was a lot of unessecary bckfilling and detail that simply didn't add anything unlike, say, Stephen Kind who is a great storyteller and rarely do I find the detail he provides to his circumstances or characters to be anything other than valuable, whereas Joshua seems to seems to add detail that I found irrelevant. This stry could have been told in half the time. It is worth sticking with though if you can put up with the fluff.

An edgy High School hierachy tale, intense read.
Enjoyed it much more than expected. Was a departure from my usual genres. The author really captured the American high school mindset and made it believable. The dialogue was sharp yet filled with teenage phraseology. The story was paced well and kept a real level of suspense while still moving on. The first book I felt warranted a review. I will be coming back to this author for sure.
