Pure Drivel

100% Drivel - I think there are about 2 useful hints and both are common sense. Note: This is not the narrator’s fault. He did fine. Summary: Random drivel disguised as marketing tips. I guess some people could benefit from having every general tip put in one place. Additional Comments: - Should have read the amazon reviews, not audible. Not sure how the audible got so well reviewed when the kindle has next to nothing, evenly spaced 1, 3, 5. - First 5 minutes: meant for entertainment and education, you can’t quote this without permission of the author/publisher, we’re not responsible for any monetary loss of following the advice in here. - 2 hours in – minimal mention of FB and Instagram so far. - Meaningless points – have great content! Evaluate, have goals (cool… but SOOOO general that it means zip in terms of helpful advice), there are programs that can help you (there are lots) - Pretty sure this is a combo book that contains his other books. 3 hours in ch 16, we just switched books to FB Marketing and Advertising Small Business Owners in 2019 – Ha, so the book pitched as for 2020 is really just a few of his previous books slapped together to be longer and make more money. Know how the last book ended? With a pitch for selecting his book as your freebie on your 30-day audible trial. - Ha. Some of the examples are absolutely hilarious. You don’t need to waste your time with hair fashion advice for women over the age 40 (if that’s your target audience). - I think one of the main problems with the book is that it’s so broad that there’s zero in depth knowledge of anything, just surface touching on a lot of different topics. - Book 2 (FB): The advice is on par with: look at successful stories around you and mimic them. There’s nothing wrong with admitting you’re not as good as your competitor when it comes to FB post ideas. There’s no perfect solution. Then spent a few min saying why FB is better than Instagram. Seems like a weird way to end if your next book is going to focus on that platform. - Book 3 (Instagram): Owned by FB (that’s interesting) Book 1 and 3 are almost identical. He starts off harping on customer personas. - Sep business and personal page on Instagram (may be good advice). - He occasionally contradicts himself – don’t cross promo…but make sure your Instagram and FB are linked. - Use hashtags but don’t make up your own (earlier, make up your own hashtag for FB) - Good advice (that would be apparent if you had any sort of common sense) – don’t purchase followers, avoid politics - 24 min from the end – there’s a 4th book – pretty sure this just comes across as audio page stuffing; personal branding Conclusion: Waste of time. It also felt misleading. 2/4 books in here were about 2019. So, he slapped on a new cover and stuffed 4 books into one and promoted it as a shiny 2020 deal. Note: I got a free code, so thank goodness, it wasn’t also a waste of money.

Had trouble making it to the end

This was a 1 star book that gained 2 more near the end. Getting to the end was painful, but the last hour or two made the ordeal worth the effort. I nearly asked Audible for my credit back, but the details on Facebook and Instagram marketing finally made me feel like I got something of value from it. The narration needed MUCH more energy and pace variation. Warning: consider not listening and driving if you decide to listen to this book.

Average Book On Marketing

I think most of this information is attainable from just going to the social media sites discussed and figuring it out on your own. I don't think this book offers that much more beyond an introduction to social media use for business advertising.
