Publisher's Summary

Only once in a great while does a writer come along who defies comparison - a writer so original he redefines the way we look at the world. Neal Stephenson is such a writer and Snow Crash is such a novel, weaving virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility to bring us the gigathriller of the information age.

In reality, Hiro Protagonist delivers pizza for Uncle Enzo's CosaNostra Pizza Inc., but in the Metaverse he's a warrior prince. Plunging headlong into the enigma of a new computer virus that's striking down hackers everywhere, he races along the neon-lit streets on a search-and-destroy mission for the shadowy virtual villain threatening to bring about Infocalypse. Snow Crash is a mind-altering romp through a future America so bizarre, so outrageous...you'll recognize it immediately.

Great for it's time?

A genuinely enjoyable read, but I could have done without a certain "romance" element near the end.

Good story, bad production

Exciting techy action story.
The sound effects and babbling voices between chapters and seemingly slotted in at random are very annoying. Cringe worthy.
Sound is generally a bit grainy but vocal performance was well done.

Brilliant

Fantastic book - creative, funny, exciting and so well written. And a superb narrator does it justice. Highly recommended!

Pretty good story and retro narration effects

The story is pretty rambly and complicated in places but that's what I'd expect from cyberpunk novel! Im sure the narration was great back when first released but the sound effects overlayed on the narrator voice were pretty annoying and made it hard to listen after a while.

A riot

Would you listen to Snow Crash again? Why?

It was great but once is enough

What was one of the most memorable moments of Snow Crash?

The crisp narrative style and the punchy narrator. Hilarious and engaging combination

What does Jonathan Davis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The book is tough going for the first half. Davis' style reveals Stephenson's dry humour exquisitely

Any additional comments?

Highly recommended for something different

cheesy dated cyberpunk adventure fun

despite it's technical failings, SNOWCRASH has a compelling core about data, religion and suburban banality

A crazy ride

A really enjoyable read. I loved the humour and highly imaginative analogies which fit in with this irreverent view of a future world. It did get a bit lost at focusing on some unnecessary details, and at times I was unclear which world we were in. But the highlight was the characters that Stephenson develops.

Jonathan Davis's performance was excellent, his style really suited the feel of the story - well done.

My only gripe is the audio quality.

Audio is a little rough, but it doesn't get in the way of a good story.
