Publisher's Summary

Who is the man behind the many voices of Rob Brydon? Read by the man himself, this audiobook memoir will reveal the warm heart behind one of Britain's favourite impressionists.

A multi-award-winning actor, writer, comedian and presenter known for his warmth, humour and inspired impressions, Rob Brydon has quickly become one of our very favourite entertainers. But there was a time when it looked like all we'd hear of Rob was his gifted voice.

Growing up in South Wales, Rob had a passion for radio and soon the Welsh airwaves resounded to his hearty burr. However, these were followed by years of misadventure and struggle, before, in the TV series Marion and Geoff and Gavin and Stacey, Rob at last tickled the nation's funny bone. The rest, as they say, is history. Or in his case autobiography.

A Small Man in a Book is a funny, heartfelt, honest, sometimes sad, but mainly funny, memoir of how a young man from Wales very, very slowly became an overnight success.

Charming and enjoyable.

I have to say I really don't understand some of the the harsher critics I've seen in these reviews?? This is Brydons memoir that traces his story up to his first stages of success as an actor (age 35)...his "creation" story.
It covers his childhood influences and his struggle to find a place for his talents...in his usual manner, it's a mixture of charm, wit, and self-deprecation.
Very enjoyable.

Great listen… genuine and humble

Not knowing much about Rob outside of his work I enjoyed learning more about his life and career having recently seen him live in Brisbane.

He’s a grasping shallow man

I was disappointed by this memoir as found his personality, shallow and desperate for fame. I’ve admired his work so was surprised he is such a human disappointment.

Disappointing. Slow, oh so slow, no real laughs.

Really expected a great laugh, but sadly dragged and dragged. No laughs really. Really flatlined sadly. love Rob on TV.

What a voice

A great listen and a great lesson in "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again". A really enjoyable book, beautifully read. Will listen again.
