About this listen

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on.

The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Through the chaos, some, like Zed Zane, discovered the virus wasn't going to kill them, but change them. Change them into something different, and leave them in a world where the word "survival" took on an older, more brutal meaning.

seriously, do it. this is a great series. I feel empty now it's finished.

at first I was irritated by the short chapters, but I think it's what made this such an easy listen. the story is constantly moving, characters and voices are consistent.

I got totally sucked into this series.

Amazing!

I enjoyed the box set overall for some of its original and new takes on survival and a pandemic zombie apocalypse thingy. The trips into characters delving into anthropology and human group behaviour were refreshing even if from a fairly conservative framework about “human nature”. The action was excellent and exhilarating and the writer at times was able to rely the feelings loss and helplessness well. The angle of ordinary‘s not overwhelming military types getting on with was refreshing for me.
The narrator did a very good job for what must have been an epic of recording.
For a non US audience the micro detail of character wrist watch make, brand of clothing, brand of food, along with gun makes can be annoying. What’s with that? But stick with it for a value for money ride with some thinking thrown in.

Better then average US Zombicide

Thanks for such an amazing journey. Such a well paced novel with phenomenal characters and believable story line, especially in these current times. So glad I found it.

Like others, the first few minutes I was unsure. The narrator seemed wrong for the character and I wasn’t sure it was a story for my. By the time I had finished the first chapter I was hooked! I have binge listened-read this because I couldn’t stop! I’ve juggled the audible with the kindle just to not stop the story going. So, so good!

Surprisingly great

First book I have read in a long while that I have not simply been able to see every surprise coming. Enjoyable read and great value for money.

Great book, and satisfyingly surprising.

Loved it, the little differences make this the best Zombie story I've read/heard. Well worth the time.

Loved it! The characters were believable, the story line gripping and I couldn't stop listening. Adair showed great geographical knowledge with attention to detail. People and a particular car really exist, which makes it even more interesting. Based on what I read I think Adair even spent time researching animal behaviour to make his zombies more realistic. Will read it again

Gripping story until the last minute
