Could have been better

Rather than being about sleep in general it was skewed far too much towards the presenters personal problems with insomnia. General issues with sleep like "Is a night sleep plus a siesta better than one longer sleep at night." were not covered at all.

The audible series on In the Habit, It takes Gets, Get Happy and Calm World were more informative, organised and informative in a shorter space of time.

It was a rambling mash up of random thought bubbles about insomnia not a podcast about sleep in general. If insomnia is your problem then go for it.

Jumbled

The order the parts of this podcast outline my feelings after listening to this podcast 5,3,2,4,1,6. I feel a number of great ideas were outlined, however after a large amount of "flip flopping" backwards and forwards on the topics. I came out without a definite impression of whether any of the topics were good for sleep or bad for sleep. On a positive note, this podcast inspired me to read more about this topic and I have now started reading Why we sleep by Matthew Walker.

interesting listen

enjoyed the whole series, the only downside was when David seemed to half assedly try the experts techniques and then somewhat dismiss them. at least that was my impression. it was great to have various sleep experts giving their opinions and evidence along the journey.

Interesting for insomniacs - others need not apply

It's interesting stuff, but the host continually brings it back to his insomnia and the struggle with that medical condition.

If you're a regular person who is looking at getting better sleep and learning about sleep, then be prepared to sift that out from continuous discussion of insomnia.

A great listen except for the outcome.

I thought the presentation of this program to be quite well done. However, most of the experts recommendations he failed to carry through with. It would have been more (or less) inspiring if he had continued and either seen results or given the tasks a comparable amount of time to discount them.
I like that he stated this problem towards the end but would recommend he has another good go and maybe does a sequel episode.

Overall I think it's worth a listen for those with someone in their life suffering from sleep problems but take it with a grain of salt.

awful.

the music volume was all over the place and constantly changing. more often than not the music drowned out the narrator's voice. impossible to hear properly.

Put me to sleep a few times!

Not a bad podcast to listen to, I was hoping to find some answers for my sleepless nights but listening to this at times was enough I put me to sleep. The part about lucid dreaming was interesting, I would have liked more information regarding nightmares as this is something I struggle with alot. Overall decent listen though!

Overall, well-rounded short series

I really enjoyed hearing from the CBT insomnia special. I was mildly frustrated with the volume changes between the regular series and nighttime updates.

Answers some questions and targets some myths. Useful medical advise about importance of sleep.

I listened to this twice and found answers to some of my concerns. The fact that it is scientifically backed
by sleep specialists makes me recommend it. I’ve found several unknown causes of insomnia I had not previously known.

David's humour is great.
It makes me feel less alone in this world of sleeplessness.

Self indulgent dismissive of evidence

Me, me,poor me!

David wallows in the attention from sleep experts but then fails to take the only real advice that has an evidence base to it.

In part3 we a meet CBTI therapist who does a great job of explaining the approach and it’s benefits but is spoken over with some unnecessary mansplaining by the doctor. This gives the impression whether intended or not that David was not interested in hearing her “yadiyadiya” which is borne out at the beginning of chapter 4 when he tells us that he didn’t bother following her advice. In the final episode the doc is full of tea and sympathy for poor David and his lifestyle though both admit that if he could find it within his poor weak self CBTI would be worth another go. Typifies the quick fix generation who’d rather take a pill than diet, spend a fortune on gadgets to get a six pack than exercise or spend £600 on a sleep robot than follow some sound advice to readjust a sleep pattern. Then moan and complain that nothing really works and it’s just part of the poor helpless creature I am.

Bullshit

When you finally ‘wake up’ to that fact and put a bit of effort in you might actually get some results

Ironically a good solution for insomnia

Managed to listen to first 2 and half episodes but can't bear to hear any more, it's really quite dull.
It comes across as a set of personal therapy sessions for David Badiel instead of what could have been a more objective investigation and experiences from others.

There are specialists injecting their expertise but they often get talked over or interrupted as David jumps in and enlightens his own experiences once again.

At one point, a female specialist was explaining a technique called CBTI but halfway through, they edited another specialist taking over her which I thought pretty rude.

Overall, the voices were quiet and there was ambient music throughout and coupled with the banal conversations is probably a good way to drift off.

Far too much David Baddiel

The most positive way of getting to sleep is to count how many times Mr Baddiel says he is an insomniac, it has the same effect as counting sheep. Would like to have heard a lot more about CBTI other than the reasons why it wouldn't/couldn't work for him, as we are not all Stand up Comedians/writers/actors it would have been interesting to hear a less biased account of the procedure. As with any behavioural issues we have to want to change, I got the impression that David Baddiel prefers to carry on claiming to all and sundry that he is an insomniac.

Helps me sleep!

This is listening to someone who has issues with sleep discussing it with professionals, which I am finding genuinely interesting. However I have to listen to each episode several times because I listen in bed, and it’s quite relaxing to listen to so I always fall asleep, miss it all and have to catch up in the morning! So it is helping me sleep, just maybe not in the way it intended!

disappointed

great idea but it's a shame David wasn't in a position to throw himself into the recommended treatments. I'd hoped for greater success for him or more info relevent for others with solvable issues. shame.

Learned more about David than sleep

I mean, it is true to what the title says, sleeping with David rather than actually learnings something about sleep.
The music and effects are very distracting, especially because cuts are almost every 30 seconds.
Very dismissive of real evidence and advice. I didn't even finish.

Having

suffered from some of the sleep conditions mentioned from restless legs which I'm on meds for through anxiety, depression and nightmares and PTSD, I found this podcast really interestin', will listen again for sure.

Engaging and well narrated.
