About this listen

Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Sisters of Treason by Elizabeth Fremantle.

Lady Jane Grey has just been executed by her cousin Mary Tudor and her two younger sisters, Mary and Catherine, live in the shadow of their sister's tragic demise. Lady Catherine's fatal flaw is her compulsive desire for love, while clever Lady Mary is burdened with a crooked spine and tiny stature - and both have inherited the curse of royal blood. It is court painter Levina Teerlinc who helps the girls survive Mary Tudor's reign, but when the Queen's sister, the hot-headed Elizabeth, inherits the crown, court life becomes increasingly treacherous for the Grey girls . . .

I really love Tudor history and didn’t know that much about the Greys. I found this story very listenable and the portrayal of Mary’s experiences of disability as authentic. I am disabled myself and found myself smiling wryly to myself more than once! I will definitely listen to this again soon.

Bought on a whim, glad I did.

This was a story I was only vaguely familiar with. The complex web of connections and fear which ran these women's lives is amazing. This was beautifully read in three voices which allowed the listener to really capture the character of each woman. It lead me on a search for more information about the true lives of the Gray women.

Compelling

The sisters of Lady Jane Grey the unfortunate 9 day Queen between Edward IV and Mary Tudor tell their stories as the try to survive after her execution. The voices are believable and I was able to immerse myself in the story.
