When you let go, you live intuitively. Everything flows, because you are no longer attached to things being a certain way, to being a certain person or always being right. What a relief. The irony is that when you feel stuck in any area of your life - career, relationships, purpose, health or money - letting go can seem very hard. You cling on for dear life just at the moment you need to take the leap. In The Power of Letting Go, John Purkiss explains why we should let go and how we can do it, using proven techniques to make things happen.

Everything that thousands of men who started in dead bedrooms and lackluster relationships have learned and refined over the years, distilled into a single series of pro-man concepts. Dread is more than taking back your masculinity, but thriving in a society increasingly hostile towards men. Nothing gets soccer moms, feminists, and traditionally conservative wives angrier than watching men thrive in a way that may not necessarily benefit them (though it does if she's a value add to a relationship).

When it comes to things we don't like in friends, family, work, or relationships we are often fast to judge and label them as red flags. What we don't realise, however, is that this mindset is causing us to lose our ability to manage difficult situations.

Publisher's Summary
The author of I Used to Be a Miserable F*ck, The Angry Therapist, now teaches you how to prioritize your relationship with yourself and live a more meaningful life, whether you’re alone, dating, or with a partner.
There’s more to life than loving someone. But being single can feel like a death sentence. Why does being alone equal being lonely? And why do we stop working on ourselves when we’re in a relationship?
After a painful divorce, “The Angry Therapist” John Kim realized he had never truly been on his own. He went on a journey to rebuild his relationship with himself, going from alone and disconnected to alone and fulfilled. Kim has gone on to help thousands of clients find their own unique way to break free of expectations and finally live their truth.
With Single on Purpose, Kim takes his signature no-BS “self-help in a shot glass” approach as he shares his own singlehood story and shows listeners how to own their shit, break their patterns, and find a grounded sense of self.
Spending time to cultivate your relationship with yourself shouldn’t be something you only do when you hit rock bottom, go through a major loss, or have a quarter-life crisis. All of us, at some point, need to be single - on purpose.

Phenomenal
Many self-help/ self-care books can be a bit samey. A bit broken record. But not this one. Single on Purpose is gritty, insightful, raw, honest, entertaining and different. Some of the concepts may be familiar, but John Kim somehow makes them more relatable. He is sharing his own journey, not just telling his readers what to do. His advice is practical, explicit and broken into manageable steps. His manner is relaxed, informal and a bit irreverent- and he narrated it himself, which adds to its authenticity. I just finished listening, and I’m about to go straight back to the start and listen to it again! I suspect this will be one I revisit often and I’m already recommending it to my friends.

Honest and practical advice.
I like audiobooks read by the writer, for the level of honesty, authenticity and emotions that are in line with the texts.
In this book John Kim shared stories of his own and his clients on self-reflection, self-exploration, owning mistakes and taking singlehood as the best opportunity to nurture yourself, to build the most important relationship in life - the one with yourself.
The advice in this book is very practical. Connecting with your body, feed nutritious stuff to your mind, set the intention to connect with people by joining a community, etc etc. You don't have to set off for world travel to make a dramatic change, but you can start small and be sustainable.
