Wonderfully Enlightening

As a person who thinks they’re pretty adept at viewing other perspectives I found this series riveting and wildly entertaining! I found each talk to be insightful, thoughtful and heartfelt. My favorite talk was from the inner city AP English teacher. I have never thought about how children growing up in urban poverty might act out because I’m so far removed from the environment. After hearing the talk I couldn’t imagine how frustrating it must be for the children and teachers, I’m so grateful we have people like the speaker in the world to help these kids and as a mom of 5, I took to heart what was said and will apply it to my own children and our lives. I hope there will be more talks soon, I can’t get enough!

She reveals nothing about how depression feels.

She suffers from sadness not depression. Depression is not maliable as she asserts. Nothing can move you emotionally when you are depressed. You have no control over your emotions. What she asserts is dangerous. Depression allows you to take pleasure in nothing.

What an eye opener!

I love the idea that we get to hear stories the no one would want to share on a TED talk. There are things in life that are just to personal, embarrassing or scary to get up in front of a stage and talk about. These are the story of Sincerely, X!

Inspiring

I liked that the stories featured in sincerely acts were told by people who chose to learn from their experience and to rise above it instead of blaming others for their circumstances. And went beyond that by helping others through their challenging experiences. We need more of that in our country today. The people who told their stories rose above the sometimes horrifying experiences in their life to tell their story and to help others who are also struggling. They chose to take a positive journey towards a solution rather than a negativeone in which they feel sorry for themselves and blame others. I enjoyed each and every story and it help me understand mental illness better.

Grounding, and Uplifting

I want to meet these people!! wow & 10 just was the greatest capstone on a mountain of heart and honesty that rose continually throughout these segments. Rose may not be right - they were stories found with a great eye for a person at home enough in their story now - that, in the sharing, we travel with them through their dark night of the soul to arrive at another place. Love the concept of anonymous. Yes, I said I wanted to know them. ... - but - I had the only thing they really could give me. and I didn't have to rush out and xyz: scour, grab, buy books. I listened and sat with them. Lucky to have that experience.

Personal and honest

The stories are raw and personal and inspiring. But the sound editing (effects, background music etc) makes it less sincere and cheapen the whole experience.

Burnout

I think this speaker was awfully hard on herself. I am not so convinced she could have talked this patient into staying. A medical provider can only do so much.

Fantastic

Thought-provoking and startlingly honest. This series will allow you to explore ideas and viewpoints which are rare to find elsewhere in society.

It takes so long to get to the actual story!

The talks are great and very much worth listening to. it's just that the introduction to each episode is exorbitantly long! you could really cut your introduction down to under a minute and get to the point of letting the speaker give their talk.

Must hear. Poignant real life experiences.

These can be difficult to listen to at times and are touching, at times heartbreaking experiences.

Disappointing

Didn't really live up to the hype. I found each story interesting but not compelling. I also found the privileged creaky voice of the narrator profoundly smug and annoying.

Annoying to listen to

Narrator really hard to listen to as are most of the speakers I heard, doesn't make you care about the characters or their boring stories. An insistance of Americans trailing their sentences off with a creaky voice is what I learnt from my limited listening to this drivel, I just couldn't finish it.

very dark undertones

i understand the need for authenticity and vulnerability but there was so much struggle and sadness expressed before any info/lessons/ transformations. it was depressing to listen to it. the wisdom from people was there but not enough in comparison to the darkness of it
