Editorial reviews

In Shipwreck of the Frolic, we’re swept along by professional traveler and curious radio host Patricia L. Lawrence, to the rugged Northern California coast of Mendocino, California, site of the 1850 wreck of the Frolic, the glistening Baltimore Clipper ship that was just nearing the completion of its 6,000-mile journey from China to San Francisco.

A search for the wrecked ship in 1851 turned up nothing and the hulking mass was soon forgotten, until serendipitously being discovered in 1984. Lawrences joins a group of marine archeologists and divers on site who are attempting to excavate the Frolic.

The shipwreck of the Frolic lead to the founding of the town of Mendocino, California, and the discovery of redwood trees.
