Loved the variety and depth of thought that Scott has put into the different species, technology, weapons and universes. 10 books long attracted me but the downfall was the amount and similarity in the space battles. Yes there was evolving tech and storylines but it was a bit monotonous after awhile. Might be that wars and fighting aren’t my thing just love the Sci-fi stuff.

I loved this series from start to finish, it was a new genre for meas I typically enjoy fantasy novels.The story was engaging and rarely predictable. There were some surprising plot twists,and the author didn't rush the ending. The narration was clear and very enjoyable on this very long read.

I could handle more than a few hours of this mess. The narrator was great as always, but the story....

Where to start: military ranks and relationship ships make no sense. For example, neither my service and nor other military I know of would have a significant ground action commanded by a sargent, no matter how experienced; nor would a commissioned officer ever be placed under the command of a sargent. The combat is simplistic, almost childish, like a young adult attempting to discribe a video game battle. Just doesn't feel authentic.

For the story, we start out in the middle of something and it feels like its missing a dozen place setting chapters if only to give us some solid character development. There are the beginnings of a political and corporate scheme that attempts to add mystery, but I think it just over simplifies and confuses.

Overall I think there are some good ideas here but it this needs a good editor to pull it together more coherently and add a lot of depth.

Started reasonably well. But on the 4th book, it went to shit. The story really changed and really did have much to do with the first 3 books.

an exceptionally painful experience of repetitive same same formulated dribble that has been done equally badly by others just with the names changed it is so incredibly unimaginative as to be humerous interstellar space travel but still using firearms and 20 century weapons 😆🤣 absolutely no redeeming qualities of this audio book apart from the extreme length of it that may induce a trance or sleep if you listen to it long enough . the longer you get into it the worse it becomes and it was bloody bad to start with .avoid this like the plague you have been warned. there are many good sc fi stories about in this genre this is most certainly not one of them.
