Publisher's Summary

Through her phenomenally popular and award-winning podcast, She’s on the Money, Victoria Devine has built an empowered and supportive community of women finding their way to financial freedom.

Honest, relatable, non-judgemental and motivating, Victoria is a financial adviser who knows what millennial life is really like and where we can get stuck with money stuff. (Did someone say ‘Afterpay’?) So, to help you hit your money goals without skimping on brunch, she’s put all her expert advice into this accessible guide that will set you up for a healthy and happy future.

Learn how to be more secure, independent and informed with your money – with clear steps on how to budget, clear debts, build savings, start investing, buy property and much more. And along with all the practical information, Victoria will guide you through the sometimes-tricky psychology surrounding money so you can establish the values, habits and confidence that will help you build your wealth long-term.

Just like the podcast, the book is full of real-life money stories from members of the She’s on the Money community who candidly share their experiences, wins and lessons learned to inspire others to turn their stories around, too. And with templates and activities throughout, plus a twelve-month plan to get you started, you can immediately put Victoria’s recommendations into action in your own life.

You are not alone on your financial journey, and with the money principles in this book you’ll go further than you ever thought possible.

Couldn’t Finish

I love the She’s on the Money Podcast but I couldn’t finish this book. She just sounded so condescending and it was just not good at all

Good listen

Tiny bit patronising but it’s good :)
I really like the variety of case study stories, which made it relatable

great information

Victoria's passion for helping women with financial education is apparent while listening to this book. This is an excellent read for every Australian as it dives into topics not typically discussed by other authors of financial books, which makes it a well rounded essential read.

10/10 would recommend

I’ve been a fan of SOTM and Victoria for some time now, and I was really looking forward to her book. I’m happy to say that this does not disappoint! So much info and where to go to find out more.
Highly recommend for anybody looking to up their financial game!

Useful but quality of audio is lacking

Would recommend buying the hard copy as audio is terrible. Best suited to younger readers.

Decent Content - Poor Delivery

Worth a listen especially if you are a beginner to financial literacy. Although - poor delivery, patronising tone, poor quality audio balance, Victoria’s pitch and volume goes up and down the entire time and making it difficult to listen to and absorb. The content itself is put forward as if intended for teenagers? It leans into gender stereotypes so much, all the metaphors are put forward like a man trying to explain a basic concept to a woman in “terms she would understand.” Clear bra straps example was the last straw. It felt like these were included as filler to stretch the length of the book out when the length could have easily been extended by including content that is directed at the social and environmental impact some of the investment options involve. It’s also deeply entrenched in privilege, which makes the patronising tone and way of writing difficult to ignore.
Worth noting the book was written in 2020 and the cost of living and particularly the rental crisis has worsened significantly since that time.

Good guide and a manageable size

Only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because a lot of the info is Australia specific so wasn’t relevant to me. Wish we had an NZ version of she’s on the money!

Lightning fast but crucial info

Slow the playback speed a little bit & this is a perfect financial guide.

the narration is extremely quick therefore difficult to absorb although the content is probably good. listen to the sample first to see if it works for you.
