Story
Can Jane Tennison uncover a serial killer? The fourth in the Sunday Times best-selling Jane Tennison thrillers, Murder Mile is set in 1979 at the height of the 'Winter of Discontent' when economic chaos has led to widespread strikes across Britain. Jane Tennison, now a Detective Sergeant, has been posted to Peckham CID, one of London's toughest areas. As the rubbish on the streets begins to pile up, so does the murder count: two bodies in as many days. There are no suspects, and the manner of death is different in each case.

A good listen, frustrating ending.
A good overall conclusion to the trilogy, but a really frustrating and I felt somewhat lazy ending, taking the easy option. It will annoy and frustrate some fans of Dolly (myself included), but I guess that's the writer's prerogative.

Absolutely Gripping
Can this get any better? Dolly Rawlins at her best, wiser, more determined, cunning and razor sharp mind. Lynda has excelled in bringing back her character 10 years later. I find myself matching the character to Ann Mitchell.
The only issue that I have is there's no mention of Bella who in the last book had left for Rio.

Gave up
Not sure why but I really did not connect with this novel. Having seen the original movie and series of Widows and enjoying much of this authors work (Prime Suspect - Trial and Retribution), this novel just did not hold my attention and although I managed some 6 hours before giving up, it just didn't ring as true as its predecessors. Grating narration, unlikeable characters did not help and perhaps that is why I never made it to the end. You might fare better so don't let me put you off - after all - this is only my opinion and others have obviously loved it.

Easy listening
To some younger listeners some of the phrases may seem a little dated
But it is a good story line with all the intrigue of misfortune of ex cons trying to go straight ,with the knowledge of crime making easy money when it works well even if there is a prison sentence to pay as part of the price. An insight into the female criminal mind with contrasting internal fights with right and wrong .

A clever plot - an unpredictable twist in the tail
The first book, Widows was a real page turner and full of suspense. This book which picks up Dolly Rawlings life after a spell in prison, is quite good, but less full of suspense and quite predictable until the end.
