Summary
In der Originalgeschichte Die einsame Radfahrerin von Arthur Conan Doyle erinnert Sherlock Holmes seinen Freund Doktor Watson daran, dass sie vor einiger Zeit in Farnham, nahe Sussex, den Falschmünzer Archie Stamford überführten. Die Situation endete damals in einer Tragödie. David Stamford, der Sohn des Falschmünzers, war zu dieser Zeit ein zehn Jahre altes Kind. Jahre später verdingt sich David als einfacher Arbeiter im Hafen von London und erkennt dort den Mann wieder, dem er die Schuld am Schicksal seiner Familie gibt. In ihm reift ein brutaler Racheplan, und so folgt er diesem Mann bis zur Baker Street.
