Publisher's Summary

Aboard the S.S. Kroonland, Valentina Meyer, a beautiful, mysterious woman wearing a white evening gown, admits to being a stowaway on the ocean liner headed toward Ellis Island. Now a passenger with a secret and an uncertain future, she becomes the central figure around whom the lives of a small group of first-class passengers revolve.

Henri is a sculptor who unexpectedly falls in love with Billie, a young lady dependent upon a “gentleman” to support her. But Billie has a secret that will change her life and that of William, the gentleman upon whose “generosity” she relies.

Thomas, traveling with his sister Victoria, falls desperately in love with Valentina, resisting his sister’s attempts to prevent their relationship. Lily, a sharp, analytical young woman bound to a wheelchair, befriends Henri as she observes the goings-on.

A symbolic journey that investigates the natural transitions between phases in our lives, She Wore Only White explores the deepest recesses of the human heart.

My second book by the author and it's really good.

Loved it overall. I have trouble connecting characters at first and realized it was part of the intrigue of the book. Everyone had a story that you needed to learn.
Well written and kept my interest.
This book was obtained by a previously unknown program through Kindle Unlimited and was free to listen or read. Many of the authors aren't American but writers from every culture and time period imaginable. I listen to as many as 6 books per week while I'm sewing.
I had listened to a prior of later publication by the author and enjoyed it equally as well. I had asked Amazon for help in finding foriegn authors translated to English without success and literally stumbled into this treasure trove through Kindle Unlimited. Many cultures, countries, eras and people my history starved brain craves.
Well written and developed and I just needed to tweak my ears and mind to the difference. I encourage subscribers give them a chance and follow the authors. I feel the most positive reviews, comments and other things are appreciated.
Many thanks from Van Buren Arkansas and continue the program please!

Good Read

I enjoyed the book, I admit to losing focus here and there, but the characters are engaging and story nice to follow. Author makes everyone relatable and one can imagine themselves in the shoes of most.

Love Boat Circa 1900

The morals were a little different in those days, but on the whole this could be a script for that show even though it is very light on comedy.

I<br />Interesting but.....

Interesting premiss but in the end the characters weren't that interesting. It was more a male romantic fantasy than anything else. Ok for a car trip but not serious, engaging entertainment.

It just didn't hold together for me.

Would you try another book from Dorthe Binkert and/or Mel Foster?

I might, probably not.

Has She Wore Only White turned you off from other books in this genre?

no, not the genre, just this particular author.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Confusion. The story jumped around to so many people in such a random manner that I had a terrible time keeping track of who was sleeping with whom. Way too much sleeping around and not much else in the story. I didn't expect that in this genre. I realize that men have always been men, but usually the sex is alluded to, not focused on.

Any additional comments?

The ending made the whole experience even worse. Very disappointing book. It could have been so much more.

Give This One A Pass

What would have made She Wore Only White better?

Stronger character development .There was too much switching back and forth to different characters perspective and little plot foundation.

What could Dorthe Binkert have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

get rid of some of the "extra" characters and concentrate on the main character the "woman in white"

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrator was OK but the story was too much about the sculptor and his personal life.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment because the premise of the plot was there but not carried out.

Any additional comments?

I would not get any more books by this author. I feel I wasted my credit as I did not even finish the book.
