About this listen
From Beast to Beauty
Sakamori Kagami was one of the top players in the VRMMO Ark Earth Online as Danblf, a veteran summoner with the gravitas to match his elite status. When he falls asleep playing one day, he's transported to a world where the game is reality—but instead of his all-powerful avatar, he's stuck in the body of a cute young girl! He can't let anyone know that this little cutie is really Danblf, so he takes the name "Mira" and claims to be Danblf's disciple. If this gets out, he'll never live it down!
©2014 Ryusen Hirotsugu, fuzichoco (P)2014 Ryusen Hirotsugu, fuzichocoMira, the main character is meant to be a summoner and the best one at that but throughout this book it became obvious that the entire premise of her summoning isn't thought out. It never describes anything to do with summoning other then "you need to do all the damage yourself" and that it is hard for summoners to tame their first summon. Other then those points summoning is really just swept under the rug as something the author can deal with later when it comes time to actually care about the main character. This also extends to her "great sage" class which is meant to make up for Mira's physical weaknesses as a summoner by being a class that specializes in hand to hand combat even being shown later in this book to do battle against a large beast. However all this power and strength means nothing against a woman whose sole existence is to grope and sexually harass the Mira.
Now lets get onto my main problem, this books is a thinly veiled disguise to hide the author's erotic fantasies. Multiple times it makes Mira run off to pee in completely unnecessary situations that drives nothing to the plot other then to just have that happen. Every time possible it will have people leer at Mira sexually or even have Mira leer at herself and get turned on reinforcing many times that she is the "perfect female form" whether that be herself staring at her or one of her companions / random people. Many times it felt like I was just listening to someones fantasies and it wholly detracted from the story. In every situation where it describes her needing to be changed it will always end up with someone catching her naked in some way or her clothes being too loose and describe the arduous task of fixing that while her supple body spills out of the clothes.
As for the voice actor in this, while it was not a bad performance I really felt like the delivery left something to be desired, the same monotone delivery found its way into almost every word that wasn't a character speaking, lacking variation that made it feel more like a wikipedia article being read aloud then a book at times. Other then that I felt like someone better could have been picked to voice the book especially since the main character needs a woman's voice and while the actor tried their best it did feel like it could have been improved.
Overall I wouldn't recommend anyone go out of their way to buy this book, if its free and you like isekai then feel free, just be prepared to listen to the author's taste in woman for almost 8 hours straight,
Interesting premise, failed execution.
