È l'alba del 5 settembre 1972. Il marciatore israeliano Shaul Ladany si sveglia di soprassalto nel suo letto del villaggio olimpico di Monaco. È andato a dormire da poco. Fino alle 3 aveva ritagliato gli articoli di giornale che parlavano della sua gara: la 50 chilometri di marcia.
In quel momento il sangue di Moshe Weinberg è già sull'asfalto. Il suo corpo è crivellato dai colpi di kalashnikov del commando di Settembre nero. I terroristi hanno fatto irruzione attorno alle 4.30 nelle unità 1 e 3 di Connolystrasse dove risiedono gli atleti israeliani. Hanno preso in ostaggio nove persone tra atleti, allenatori e tecnici.
