Once again a spot on performance from Bernard Cornwell. I think so far, this one tastes right up the top. The narrator is outstanding as always and I can’t wait to continue.

I read the entire series many years ago but Rupert Farley brings life to the characters. Better than the TV series.

Excellent description of various battles that Sharpe becomes involved ln. A believable plot that shows up the impotence of many english officers who by accident of birth can command men into battle without the requisite capicity to lead.

Still finding his feet, this story establishes his fame and place at the table of his peer commanders. But he remains a difficult officer to live with. His only way up is in battle and over the dead bodies of his peers.
