Fabulous!
Couldn't stop listening to this one. I recommend you save it for an all-night stint, or a day when you're not expecting guest, because you won't welcome interruptions.
Nigel Anthony excels himself as narrator, too.

Another classic RR
I can’t get enough of Nigel Anthony’s readings of Ruth Rendell. The combination of RR’s detailed stories and Nigel’s expertise in crafting character voices make the Wexford series pure joy. I already have the next title ready to go.

Yawn
This is my first Ruth Rendell book. I had expected more. I found the story slow convoluted and whilst there were twists some of the characters for example Morag were undeveloped and seemed to be out of context. I struggled to finish the book and often had to go back to relisten as I often felt like I had missed vital prices of information only to find I hadn’t - they just weren’t there leaving me quite confused. The narrator was great and easy to listen to.

Excellent
I love the Inspector Wexford series. it's a shame Audible don't have the entire series...then I could listen through every book in order from the beginning.
I certainly did not see the twist at the end of this one.

Confusing and slow
I am not familiar with Ruth Rendell's work and thought I'd try it out. I found the characters hard to follow (keeping track of who's who) and the story quite slow. I did stick with it and there was a good twist at the end but I will not seek out other books by this author or narrator.

Great story
A good mystery with a great twist. Love Ruth Rendell - crime without the gory bits!

subtle
Rendell is a smart, insightful novelist. Wexford is old, determined and tempted. A subtle psychological novel. Excellent narrator.
