Publisher's Summary
Before her death in July 1997, beloved lesbian feminist author Chris Anne Wolfe published two of her four classic Amazon adventure novels: Shadows of Aggar and Fires of Aggar. But these two volumes are only the first half of her Aggar cycle.
Chris Anne left her unpublished manuscript to her creative partner, Jennifer DiMarco, who continues to work transcribing and publishing these three dozen novels and collections. Find out more about the Wolfe Campaign at www.ChrisAnneWolfe.com.
Shadows of Aggar begins it all. Diana n'Athena is an Amazon working for the Terran Empire on the medieval planet of Aggar. Her mission is to rescue a downed pilot/spy from Aggar's wilds. But when the Council demands she be bonded to a Shadow in order to be allowed to make the journey, things get interesting. Shadows are exceptional guides and fighters, but Elana is something more - she has the gift of the Blue Sight. As the two women race against time to prevent an all-out intergalactic war, they become erotically entangled, complicating both their lives and putting their mission in danger.

Great but...
I really loved this book, it was a little slowly paced but the content was great, ths love story was angsty but I really enjoyed it. My only real quarm is that the audio editing isn't great, though the voice actress is great in some parts you can hear the sound recording being turned on and off again, and occasionally there are weirdly long pauses between lines. But overall I really loved the book

rediscovered treasure from my adolescence
I'd forgotten I read this book when I was like 15. 30 years later and it still drew me into the world of Aggar and the love story that unfolds.

Life, Lies, Loss & Lesbian Love
The story covers a little of growing up, moving out, the trials and errors of life on the road with a companion, traumatic events, the struggles of hiding your true self, and of course what good story wouldn’t have love. Thank you for covering alternative yet natural lifestyles!

A bit long.
Great story. Excellent narrative. Wonderful characters, but by the mother's hand it was long and a few passages, I believe, unnecessary. Still quite good and the story itself was refreshing and different.

Entertainingly Sweet
Overall, I loved the story! Diana and Elana are mesmerizing. I like how neither one outshines the other in terms of how loyal they are to one another. I wished someone would make this story into a movie because visually, I'm sure I would enjoy the battle and scenes even more plus there is a life lesson to be shared with many. I'm def getting Fires of Aggar!

Cannot Believe Audible has this!
Would you consider the audio edition of Shadows of Aggar: Amazons Unite Edition to be better than the print version?
They are equal. Classic.
Any additional comments?
I have never reviewed before in my years of being a lurking customer. But to see this on Audible is incredible. The reader did a fantastic job, bringing to life characters I have loved for years. I hope that all of Chris Anne's books will make it to Audible.

I cannot praise this enough.
Holy cow. This was exactly the book I was looking for. Between the quality plot, the character growth and development to the love story shared in equal parts as plot. One does not eclipse the other. A quality tale of love and heroes.

Nice book .
Fantasy feel to it, it had a good balance of action and romance between Diana and Elana. There's also the interesting underlying story between the four entities involved, You have The Amazons, who are ostensibly working for the Terran Empire, on planet Aggar and dealing with the Council of Aggar who guide the development their society, and finally theres the Ramains King who with the capture of a Terran pilot and ship intends to shift the balance of power his own way with the help of the pilot and the advanced technology from his ship. This book it was a great listen to in total it was 20 hours long but it really seemed to go faster. I'm looking forward to getting the second & third in the series which are also available on audible. Sweet neeetx one 😉
