About this listen

I no longer walked in the gray...I had fallen into the darkness.

With Brexley on the run and Istvan rebuilding his power in the safety of Ivanenko’s territory, those who have escaped the prison are dealing with the bloody aftermath and trying to regain any hold they can on Budapest. But in Markos’s absence, Sonya makes a claim for the throne and takes control of the city.

What a ride this series has been! This book was fast paced and had me on the edge of my seat. I loved the multiple POV which added to the emotional experience.

And Bitzy and Opie 🥰 the light comic relief I didn't realise I needed. I will miss them the most.

Wow 👌

What a ride it’s been! I loved the series! I did feel as though this last book dragged a bit. And as much as I loved the addition of Daniel and the voice actor, I wish he had done all the male voices and Eva had done all the female voices (instead of chapter by chapter). It was a bit odd hearing two different voices for the same character. Overall I loved the series!

How is this the end of Brex and Warwick's story? There are still bad guys out there, so to speak, Kalaraja, for instance. The time jumps didn't wrap anything up properly. This was messy, and several plot lines got lost along the way. What even was this supposed to be?

The next book focuses on Ash, but Brexley is the one with the power. The final battle should have been against Sonia. It's problematic that we still haven't gotten a proper confrontation with Kalaraja.

Example of Major plot issues:
- Why didn't she warn the necromancers that Kalaraja is tracking them?
- If Killian is pure fae, why haven't we seen him perform any magic that lives up to that title? Weak explanation of haven’t fully healed. He is supposed to be pure fae.
- At what point did the fae doors even come into play? Why even mention them then.

It's frustrating at this point,The story is all over the place, so much so that you find yourself overlooking major plot holes and inconsistencies just to keep going.

The power balance in this story is absolutely ridiculous. Did she not think to have everyone she loved who were worthy take bites of it so they could all share the power? The whole concept is absurd.
There's a difference between driving the story forward and creating absolute chaos with the power dynamics and plot structure.

Unfinished with plot holes

Loved having the POV of the boys as well as Brex, I was worried I wouldn't like a second narrator but love him. Absolutely enjoyed the internal banter especially Warwick and Killian

Loved the paired narrators!

If I hadn’t been been determined to finish out the series, I would’ve refunded. Save your credit for a book that doesn’t use “hard as steel” on repeat.

A hard one to finish
