Publisher's Summary

Seven days to fall in love, 15 years to forget and seven days to get it all back again....

Eva Mercy is a single mother and best-selling erotica writer who is feeling pressed from all sides. Shane Hall is a reclusive, enigmatic, award-winning novelist, who, to everyone's surprise, shows up unexpectedly in New York.

When Shane and Eva meet at a literary event, sparks fly, raising not only their buried traumas, but also the eyebrows of the Black literati. What no one knows is that 15 years earlier, teenage Eva and Shane spent one crazy, torrid week madly in love. While they may be pretending not to know each other, they can't deny their chemistry - or the fact that they've been secretly writing to each other in their books through the years.

Over the next seven days, amidst a steamy Brooklyn summer, Eva and Shane reconnect - but Eva's wary of the man who broke her heart and wants him out of the city so her life can return to normal. Before Shane disappears though, she needs a few questions answered....

With its keen observations of creative life in America today, as well as the joys and complications of being a mother and a daughter, Seven Days in June is a hilarious, romantic and sexy-as-hell story of two writers discovering their second chance at love.

Reece's bookclub does it again

Definitely worth the read.

the narrator does a great job.

The author captures the lives and relationships of so many people; from the relationships between mother and daughter, to the relationships between best friends, to the relationships between 2 lovers. she captures the expectations placed upon ourselves as mothers. and she captures the beauty of finally coming full circle and accepting yourself as who you are rather.

such a wonderful book to read. I could have kept reading for hours.

Is this what 12yr olds are like these days?

Heaven help us if they are. I really enjoyed parts of the book, other parts felt laborious. Eva’s constant dialogue about pain… blah blah blah.

I want to find this kind of love x

Tia, I couldn’t stop listening. I adored the characters and the plot. The relationship between Mother and daughter was transcending. I envisioned my baby one day exuding the wisdom that Audrey possesses and as a mother, guiding her as Eva did. Mela Lee you narrated so beautifully!

Seven Days in June
- Tia Williams

Tia Williams wrote a quirky, witty, love story about family trauma, what it means to have an invisible disability, addiction, mental health, foster care, and how people have to give themselves permission to be loved. Eva and Shane, the main characters, are both famous writers (she, for her Twilight style series, and he, for his brooding series) had a brief (one week)teenage romance 15 years earlier, that changed the course of their lives. Eva is the divorced mom to a precocious 12year old daughter Audre, who attends a prep school where she counsels her classmates as if she were a professional therapist. Shane is the elusive darn near reclusive author who disappears from the spotlight but makes a surprise appearance at a local NY speaking engagement, much to the shock of everyone in attendance, including Eva. This is we’re the wild ride begins.

Often times, romance novels only focus on the the two partners, but I enjoyed the detail Tia Williams emphasized on the generational family members as well the secondary characters: the daughter Audre and best friend CeCe. This created a well rounded story that anyone and everyone can relate too. While the majority of the book spans 7 days, the glimpses to the past aid in completing the story and when all the pieces fell together…it was like magic ✨

Not for me

I really wanted to like this story. I’ve been trying to diversify my reading genres and I’m not a big fan of romance novels I had heard great things about this one so thought I would give it a go. Unfortunately I struggled through the romance parts. I really enjoyed the characters, they were well written and the historical aspects were interesting and the narrator was great. If you like romance I think you would like this story very much.

needed more character development

sometimes it seemed a bit too farfetched to be believable, as much as I want to believe, it was hard to get into, the characters were likeable but needed more development 7 days in highschool it was just hard for me to get into the feelings of it all. it didn't delve into his backstory, the reasons behind her debilitating illness .. and the daughter seemed way older than she was, she seemed more like a adult friend.. idk it kinda missed the mark for me and some chapters seemed ruched and crammed in storyline to attempt to pull the plot together. idk I really wanted to like it but it just missed depth.
