Don’t waste your money

Many facts within the first couple of chapters were incorrect, the author should have done a bit more fact checking before he discussed someone the topics the book was released

everything you've read already but in one place

pacey narration but without much feeling or sensation despite the story. overall nothing new or revelatory but still very interesting and a good reminder of the darker side to humanity

ok but nothing new learned

my interest in true crime stems from psychological or social perspectives. this is ok but it just gives lots of facts, more like a general guide. it is read quite well, but I struggled to engage

Disappointed listener

I love true crime, but I prefer information on the insides of the minds of the criminal. This publication was merely a recount of past events, giving unnecessary details on the dates the victims were found, but not for example how the crime occurred or why the perpetrators did what they did. Don't get me wrong, at least now I've got additional names of the criminals that I want to know more about, so not all that bad. Found the narration very flat. Understand this isn't fiction or drama, but really appreciate at least a little pause between the chapters, as you can easily lose track of you're also paying attention to what's going on on the road (I predominantly listen while driving).

A basic rundown of the most famous serial killers

No insight into the psychological makeup of the perpetrators here. Just a run through of the crimes; dates and gruesome descriptions. The narrator draws out every word in an excruciatingly slow cadence that putting the playback speed to 2x makes it just about bearable. Each chapter ends with a summary that often falls off a cliff and leads straight into the next chapter with no pause. Overall an accurate but tediously boring book.

Rarely more than a series of facts

Not worth the read sadly. It's a collection of names from infamous murders followed by what can only be described as clippings from news stories.

It's ok.

Didn't really learn anything I didn't already know. It's just like an encyclopaedia of serial killers with a chapter on each named one. Good for reference purposes.

Good Introduction

Excellent introduction to the serial killers he covers and very well researched. However I feel sometimes he is just getting in to telling there story but then stops short, bit overall a good introduction.

The basics

its a ok book for someone who doesn't know much about serial killers or true crime in general. For true crime fans such as myself this book really offered nothing new. There were also some facts in the book that are (atleast from what I've read) inaccurate or just flat out wrong (namely the FBI claiming that they did the profile for Richard Chase when it was in fact the local police) Its a good starting point for anyone new to the subject.

Content better than the narration

Good detail and information in the cases but the narrator is quite monotonous to listen to.
