The job at Sunday Orchard was supposed to be temporary. A chance to gain some work experience, to have some fun. I had not expected to be welcomed into a family of gorgeous and weirdly efficient lumberjack-types, or to find purpose in the tiny Vermont town whose claim to fame seemed to be apple-based products and copious amounts of charm. And I most definitely hadn’t expected to fall for Knox Sunday, my grumpy, burly, fifteen-years-older, reluctant roommate, with his infuriating lectures, his hot-as-fire body, his superior attitude - I’ve never been one to put down roots.

For Landon Stackhouse, being called up from the Calgary farm team is exciting and terrifying, even if, as the backup goalie, he rarely leaves the bench. A quiet loner by nature, Landon knows he gives off strong “don’t talk to me” vibes. The only player who doesn’t seem to notice is Calgary’s superstar young winger, Casey Hicks. Casey treats Landon like an old friend, even though they’ve only interacted briefly in the past. He’s endlessly charming and completely laid-back in a way that Landon absolutely can’t relate to.

Sweet, simple story
- By Kindle Customer on 31-10-2023
Publisher's Summary
Visiting a wealthy friend during university holiday, Stephen wakes to find his bed invaded by a late arriving, drunken houseguest stumbling into the wrong room. From this dubious beginning, a romance slowly develops.
At first Lord Peter Northrup is only interested in the young man as a lusty diversion. He tutors him in secret pleasures shared by men like them, intending to keep their special liaison brief, light, and temporary. But after Northrup leaves, he can't forget the young man who managed to touch his jaded heart.
During their time apart, Peter and Stephen change, and when they meet again, their affair flames hotter than ever. Can a peer of the realm and a middle-class young man bearing heavy responsibilities maintain a lasting relationship? Will Peter accept the possibility of true love in his shallow life, and will Stephen risk everything and trust a man who's already hurt him once?

Hugely satisfying historical romance!
Such a sweet and spicy historical age-gap romance! Stephen is a university student spending the summer break at his best friend’s country estate where he meets family friend, Lord Peter Northrup. The attraction is instant, although both men try to be circumspect, and Peter takes Stephen under his wing. Ostensibly, Stephen is seduced by Peter, but in reality it’s Peter’s jaded heart which is seduced by Stephen. There was a lovely good-natured air about this satisfying story: there were no villains and the relationship was tender, despite the occasional hurdles. Cornell Collins is a favourite period-piece narrator of mine and he does his usual great job on the audiobook (currently free on the Audible Plus catalogue).
