Publisher's Summary
For Jonathan Grave and Gail Bonneville, the Crystal Sands Resort is the perfect getaway - until gunshots shatter the night. Wealthy guests are yanked out of their sleep, herded like animals, forced to submit to their captors' demands. But Jonathan and Gail are no ordinary vacationers. The assassins who invade their bungalow receive a deadly surprise. And two determined, skilled operatives escape into the jungle. Jonathan and Gail are not the only free agents on the island.
Cut off from his usual tactical team, with a pair of unlikely allies he can't fully trust, Grave's only hope of reliable back-up is his partner Boxers, who's hundreds of miles - and hours - away. It won't be long before the invaders turn this tropical paradise into the powderkeg that will set off global chaos. Grave may be without weapons, but he's never without resources. Bold action is the only solution. Like the scorpion, Grave must strike fast and hard....

ACTION PACKED!!! May be the best of the series!!!!
This book sure took me by surprise! I started listening and within oh maybe the first 3 or 4 minutes the action began. Terrorists invade an island resort and begin shooting some people at the resort bar and herding others into a small group. Jonathan Graves and Gail Bonneville are sleeping in their bungalow which is the furthest from the main building. When the shooting began working it's way towards them Jonathan prepares himself with the only weapon he has- a benchmade knife. So, he takes his knife to a gun fight and of course wins. They take the terrorists weapons and run for the trees, picking up three tag alongs. Jonathan is able to get through to Mother Hen who mobilizes a team of Jonathan's friends and associates. Most are indebted for either their freedom or their lives. Okay!! We got some action going on now!! This book does not stop or even slow. This is a plot driven book with suspense and a super fast pace. Once I started listening I could not put this down. Corey Snow does a great job narrating. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Warning-change in narrorator
The story line in pretty good but the change in narrorator is such a let down. He also doesn’t have the voice range to differentiate characters well. You can tell them apart but it’s more due to the writing than the voice. Really miss Boxers “big” voice.

Another great book by John Gilstrap
I absolutely loved the storyline! The only reason I cannot give this book 5 Stars overall is that after years of reading and listening to the Jonathan Grave series read by Basil Sands I had voices ingrained in me for each of the characters. Corey did a really good job but it just wasn't the same voice for each character that I had in my head.

Great story, weak narrator
Had to scrap the audiobook because of the not-so-good narration and finished the hardcover. Please go back to Basil Sands to narrate this series. He makes every character come to life. I recommend the actual book but not the audiobook because of the weak narrator. All he did was read the book without any ‘life’...!

Great story.......really poorly performed
The story was great.....exciting and action packed. But the reader was so disappointing. All he did was read, there was no performance. I so missed the prior reader. He was a performer. He was a one man play, bringing all the characters to life with their own personalities and voices. With this new reader, it was very difficult to keep track of which character was talking. Everyone sounded blah and boring and unappealing. The reading was torturous. Bring back Basil Sands.

new narrator, great story
loved the story and the new man in Vanachi's life. the narrator lacks depth in character voices. one of my favorite characters, Boxers, sounds like a young 20ish yuppie, not this oversized 'gentle giant/killing machine' that everyone is in awe of. listen for yourself, the story is absolutely excellent

Basil Sands is missing
I have listened to all of this series & enjoyed each one. The first time I ordered this one I just couldn’t listen to the new narrator so I returned it. I finally reordered because I enjoy the series so much. I did enjoy the story as many of the previous characters returned to work together, making their “adventures “ interesting. But I know I missed a lot of it because I struggled with the “NOT Basil” narrator. He doesn’t distinguish characters well-male/female, Russian accent isn’t consistent, oddly theatrical. The worst- not having the “real” Boxers voice , or Venice’s voice & their attitudes. Very little difference between any of them. Sad.
