Publisher's Summary

When fans of dark romance and unbridled desire want to be satisfied, they turn to number one New York Times best-selling author Lora Leigh and her "powerful and highly erotic" (Fresh Fiction) Breed novels. Now a Breed hides in the world of man - until a woman arouses the amused and wildly carnal animal within....

Once, he was Judd - Bengal Breed and brother to the notorious fugitive Gideon.

After Gideon disappeared, Judd was experimented on until his tortured body knew nothing but agony.

Now he is Cullen Maverick, serving as the commander of the Covert Law Enforcement Agency in the small community of Window Rock, Arizona. Despite his genetics, Cullen is able to pass as human because his Bengal traits are recessed. But he lacks the ability to smell the emotions, bonds, and fears that other Breeds take for granted. He remains tormented that he wasn't able to mate the woman he loved - at the cost of her life.

He's just a man. The genetics of the animal he was created to possess are forever silent, leaving no hint of the Breed he should have been. Or so he thinks. But his tiger is about to be awakened by the one woman destined to be his - Chelsea Martinez. And their world will never be the same....

Excellent

This Breeds story focuses mostly on the Breed now known as Cullen Maverick and Chelsea Martinez and their story is full of hurt, betrayal, love, violence and pain with a healthy dose of denial on Cullen’s part. Cullen is a recessed bengal who is so in denial that he might lose the best thing that could ever happen to him and when you mix in evil that wants revenge it becomes very messy. I highly recommend this story and the series as a whole.

Enjoyable in audible.

AUDIBLE REVIEW
The narrator just misses the mark in Cullen’s voice.
The narrator just makes Cullen sound wrong for me but the story is great.
Chelsea really is an oxymoron and her weakness comes across more in the audio. I found her a bit more whiny in audible.
The fact that Cullen leaves Chelsea without the true knowledge of his marriage but tells another is just wrong.
Book review is longer.
BOOK REVIEW - new version
The last of the missing breeds gets his story.
Cullen/Judd is the twin brother of Graeme, he is someone we have known for quite a few books and the last of the hidden breeds from way back.
When his real mate Chelsea, who is a distant cousin of his dead wife, has had enough of his behaviour and leaves for another job his primal instincts kick into gear.
Chelsea was not the heroine I wanted in that she facilitated between a strong capable fighter to this submissive doormat of a woman who let Cullen walk all over her and give her less than she deserved.
Unfortunately, Chelsea believes he can never love her, as he loved his ex-wife (her cousin) very much.
The truth shall set you free, but Cullen is very slow in telling Chelsea what really happened in his marriage thus hurting Chelsea and ensuring a rocky road to their HEA. It is nearly the end before the truth is told.
A lot more relationship in this between our two H’s which I liked, even if they were butting heads.
A good book that had quite a good amount of Graeme in it which I loved and gives us more insight into Gideon/Graeme and his mated life.
We also learn so much more on various subjects and once again have to deal with hate from the council but also a false friendship and deceitful family dynamics.
Arthur was totally unbalanced and Ranger deserved a more painful death.
There were also two very sad scenes involving young girls, that once again shows the depravity of the council scientists and their soldiers.
We are left with many questions once again, so have to eagerly await the next book. I am just really getting aggravated awaiting either Cassie or Dane’s story or even poor Dog, if anyone needs some softness and love in his life it is that poor tormented coyote.
This series is as good now as when it started even with a few not so enjoyable books along the way but I believe you need to have read the rest of the series to appreciate the relationships of who and what everyone is. If you read this as a standalone it would be enjoyable but you will want to go back to read the other books.
