Publisher's Summary

Patrick Rothfuss narrates The Slow Regard of Silent Things, a companion novella to his best-selling Kingkiller Chronicle novels that shares an enchanting new perspective on the Four Corners realm.

Renowned as a bastion of knowledge, the University draws the brightest minds to unravel the mysteries of enlightened sciences, such as artificing and alchemy. Yet deep below its bustling halls lies a complex web of abandoned rooms and ancient passageways.

In the heart of this cavernous maze is a young woman named Auri, who calls this Underthing her home. Formerly a student at the University, Auri now spends her days tending to the world around her. She knows that some mysteries are better settled and safe. No longer fooled by the sharp rationality so trusted by those above her, Auri sees beyond the surface of things, into subtle dangers and hidden names.

At once joyous and haunting, The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a richly atmospheric and lyrical tale that features one of the most beloved characters from his acclaimed fantasy series.

Fascinating

A world where the subject and object are intimatelv entwined one acting on the other. An anodyne to our harshly objective individualistic existence where we can't see the effect we're having. I loved it.
The narrator pailed next to that for Quoth however.

Just amazing

If someone were to say that a book with one character and basically no dialogue would end up being one of my favourite books of all time, I would have laughed. but it has.

made me laugh, cry enough that I had to find tissues, and most of all, enthralled to the last word.

Just an amazing side novel that is now in my top 5 books of all time.

Thank you Patrick, thank you so much.

For the soul

Patrick worried this story would not make a good read for anyone but himself. In his introduction and outcome, he spent time wringing his hands over this. It does not fit the normal forms of what a good story meet. However, it is my view that a story has only two requirements: it must entertain and it must educate. If you have read the Kingkiller trilogy, you will know Auri. This is her story, from her perspective, and that should explain everything.

Brilliant!

Loved it so much, I've listened 3 times already. Each time I hear something new I missed previously, it captures pure heart and imagination. If you've ever felt a bit alone or lost and find yourself friends with or talking to inanimate objects, you'll connect with this so easily. Everything has a perfect place :)
