Publisher's Summary

The Legion of Flame is the action-packed second audiobook in the Draconis Memoria series - an enthralling epic fantasy of magic, adventure and the furious battle to forge an empire.

Claydon Torcreek has survived drake-infested jungles, hostile tribes and the cold touch of betrayal - yet his troubles have only just begun.

The legendary white drake - believed to be nothing more than a myth - has awoken from its long slumber, with a thirst to reduce the world of men to ashes. One city has already fallen to the drake's formidable legions.

More will follow unless Clay can uncover an ancient secret that lies buried beneath the southern ice. Once again Clay must face unthinkable danger, and this time he carries not just the hopes of his own nation but the fate of the entire world.

Great!

I loved this book. Great narration, although i didnt care for changing voices for different characters. It was jarring.

voice actor change

would have been a lot better if you had kept the same voice actor as in the waking fire

The man is a genious

He probably gets this all the time (Anthony that is) but his use of language and vivid world building is compelling. His handle of our language is a level above what I normally listen to (military Sci Fi by many best selling authors) and I noticed that my grey matter fell in love. This was better than the first one and that was bordering on a masterpiece. To be able to write with such vision is amazing. HBO should grab this a make another "Game of Thrones" like epic series.

Steven Brand was a better choice

Overall solid storytelling as always. However, the habit of ending every single chapter with a minor cliffhanger grew tiresome.
The voice performance felt overbearing and unnecessary. Dramatic accents seemed not to fit the tone, creating cartoonish characters (Tinkerer and the Electress, for example). Accents seemed to have no correlation either, as when three people from the same city in the beginning of the book had 3 wildly different accents. Also, changing the pronunciations of names and words from the first book was confusing.
The experience was still enjoyable, although minor issues with the performance may incite some small frustrations in other pedants like myself.

better than the first

whilst i didn't mind the story of the first one, it was very hard to follow or get into as the narrator wasn't great. The new one for book 2 has made the book come to life, each character is well protrayed and easy to know who it is just by the voice acting. Story is building well for the next.

Horrible

So bad don’t waste your time. Just horrible, boring, slow and nothing really happens. A Shame cause the first book was ok.

Ruined by narrator

I'm a big fan of Anthony ryan and I loved the first book. Was really excited to start the second one only for it to be completely ruined by the narrator. His overly dramatic tones are cringeworthy and the accents have no consistency. The worst part is having characters that you really liked become totally off-putting because of the ear strangling sounds now associated with them. If Steven Brand re-recorded this I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. As it is I couldn't get through an hour of it.
