As the conflict between Enosh and Damasca builds to war, Simon finds himself caught in the middle. Alin is bound by prophecy to the Grandmasters of Enosh, but he begins to doubt his fate when he discovers that their talk of freedom hides a darker agenda.

Leah has never questioned her loyalty to Damasca. Now, she finds that allegiance tested as she is forced to oppose her own rebellious brother. With these two powers on the brink of open war, the land soon trembles in the face of an even greater threat. Who can stand against the Wanderer?

"Great story, the authors reading has improved"

in the first story house of blades the authors reading was very fast. The pace has slowed down considerably and more personality has been given to each character.

    "Will Wight Delivers again!"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Crimson Vault to be better than the print version?

I'm dyslexic so i have trouble reading. That being said, the audio book is read by the author... so you will always get the proper tone and meaning with the words that are said.

What other book might you compare The Crimson Vault to and why?

Comparing it to the first book, it is even better. I gave the first book 5/5 because it was well earned. This book takes everything from the first one and expands on it. You don't just dive into a world and get a birds eye view, you get to stand in it with the characters and experience the chaos of a real world.

Have you listened to any of Will Wight’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. It is wonderful to hear an author bring life to their own work in a way that only they can.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen to all 10(or so) hours in a row. Three times. The story is so enjoyable it leaves you thirsting for more. Any time i had to pause it for a moment or so was agony.

    Any additional comments?

Will has produced another wonderful story. I can't wait for the final book to come out and i hope it is soon!

"One of my favorite series, getting even better!"

This is book to in the Travelers Gate trilogy, and really is an excellent addition to the series. A lot of second of three books are just placeholders, but not this one. This very definitely move the story along and advances the character's growth.Simon and Leah both have great character growth, and there are some major changes for a lot of the other characters, too. There is also a lot of the backstory for the other Valinhall Travelers filled in in a series of flashbacks. The plotting is fast paced, the battles are extremely well done and action packed, and you can really sympathize with the characters. There is also a lot more magic used in this one, really showcasing a lot more of what each terrritory brings to the table as far as magic. I think this is a uniquee kind of series, playing against tropes, but if anything in style is close, it's Brandon Sanderson's work. Will Wight self narrated this, and he has gotten better over the course of the two books so far, really gaining in confidence as a narrator. I recommend this book and series to any fan of Brandon Sanderson, you wont be disappointed.

"READ this book, you'll enjoy it better"

Ugh. It had been so long since I'd listened to the first book I'd forgotten about the narration, performed by the author. The storyline is worth a credit but the narration ruins it. I ended up reading the first book and will do same for this book. Long and short the narration is unbelievably bad, let me explain. The authors voice isn't bad but his intonation , you'd think he'd have a grasp on the tale he so creatively thought up...he doesn't.
Here is a good analogy; picture a teenage boy opening a Kermit sweater Christmas morning from sweet & senile grandparents. The teen responds, "wow grandma, I can't believe you remembered I love Kermit (followed by snicker)! That is how the ENTIRE book reads!! No matter if the character is watching parents be murdered or having a conversation with someone threatening to kill him/her. Regardless, the narrator happily and sarcastically reads each line of book with same wholly inappropriate "You killed my daughter!" Could easily be "meatloaf AGAIN mom?"
I'm not kidding, it throws off the world a listener is trying to be immersed in.
I will READ this authors books-he's a good writer but someone needs to tell him his narration is more suitable as a kindergarden teacher during story time (rainbows & sunshine) and horrible for his books.

    "Good story, characters, and world."

The story is well done with fleshed out characters. The world is unique in its rules of magic/powers, but familiar enough that you don't have a problem understanding how they work.

Where I found the book lacking was in the narrator's performance. He doesn't have a large variety of distinct voice types for characters. That said, he still did a good job of proper tone and timing in the narration.

Where does The Crimson Vault rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have absolutely loved this series thus far. There is an interesting magic system, all of the sarcasm we love and having the author himself be capable of doing the audiobooks has been a great experience as well and I think that it adds a new element of clarity overall. Like the title of the comment says, Will please hurry up and finish your next audio book! I know my family and I are anxiously awaiting it.

"Another excellent read. Full of action scenes galore."

The second instalment of "The travellers gate trilogy " was just as good as "The house of blades ". With a suitable twist in the plot. Growth in characters, and excellent action scenes. I would suggest this to any Fanta sea enthusiasts who is into, epic battles, swordfights, and more. The author wants more does an excellent job of narrating The novel and bringing the characters to life through his voice. If the third novel is anything like the second, can't wait to have it in my library.
