Publisher's Summary

Introducing Geralt the Witcher - revered and hated - who holds the line against the monsters plaguing humanity in the best-selling series that inspired the Witcher video games and a major Netflix show.

Geralt. The witcher whose mission is to protect ordinary people from the monsters created with magic. A mutant who has the task of killing unnatural beings. He uses a magical sign, potions and the pride of every witcher - two swords, steel and silver.

But what would happen if Geralt lost his weapons?

Andrzej Sapkowski returns to his most popular hero in a stand-alone novel where Geralt fights, travels and loves again, Dandelion sings and flies from trouble to trouble, sorcerers are scheming...and across the whole world clouds are gathering - the season of storms is coming....

Best Witcher book yet

I was concerned when it occurred to me that there was another witcher book (Season of Storms) published much later than the others, and set before the main series. Another prequel? 'This could well be simple, cheap fan service, perhaps called for after the first witcher games'. Well, I was surprised to find this is actually the most finely crafted of them all. The author has finely treaded the perfect line between action, clever storytelling, engaging characters, and crisp, unfaltering writing. For all the love I have for the other books, they are flawed, especially in the specifics of the narrative department. If you have finished the other books, and we're left with an emptiness or a dissatisfied appetite, I would highly recommend this book to satiate you.

Can't fault it. Andrzej at his best!

I actually looked forward to the drive into work each morning so I could listen to an hour of this great listen. I have read all of the Witcher books and this rates right up there.

More Lore than Story

Taking place between two short stories in the Sword of Destiny novel, you can't help but feel like this should have been a short story aswell. If you have read all the novels like me then you might find this a bit tedious, as this is basically a retread of events done better with a sprinkling of modern political views and the occasional lore. Geralt has little room for characterisation in this as his important emotional arc is done in the previous and following story.
As always the voice work is impeccable, but I still struggled to listen to some characters go on and on without interruption. Overall I feel a lack of the attitude, gripping fast plot and interesting characters found in the previous books bring this good book down to just "okay."

The most focused Witcher novel

Much like the Sword Of Destiny this book is well balanced and an example of how good the Witcher series can get. Since it fits among the short stories that are the first two novels published in the series, it can be read as a stand alone work and is highly recommended. As usual, Peter Kenny is absolutely brilliant.

Geralt's destiny

This is the world of the Witcher - a stand-alone novel where Geralt fights, travels and loves again! It ties into the short stories but do not read this before the other books- just read it at the end to have a better understanding if Geralt's destiny

best witchery novel

great listen. I has a bit worried about this one thinking it might be a cash grab, but it's been the Witcher novel to date.

another great witcher story with perfect narration

peter kenny was perfectly selected to read witcher books and this one is no different. narrative is brilliant and a lot of fun and, if you have read or listened to the last wish, there's a nice little Easter egg in there for those that know

Season of Storms

A beautiful way to “end” the series, but I’d recommend reading Book 6 again, after you’ve read this.
