Publisher's Summary

The third thrilling book in the increasingly popular Murderbot Diaries, which began with All Systems Red.

Sci-fi's favorite antisocial AI is back on a mission. The case against the too-big-to-fail GrayCris Corporation is floundering, and more importantly, authorities are beginning to ask more questions about where Dr. Mensah's SecUnit is.

And Murderbot would rather those questions went away. For good.

Martha Wells' Rogue Protocol is the third in the Murderbot Diaries series, starring a humanlike android who keeps getting sucked back into adventure after adventure, though it just wants to be left alone, away from humanity and small talk.

Listen to Rogue Protocol and find out why Hugo Award winner Ann Leckie wrote, "I love Murderbot!"

Go murderbot!

If you’ve read the other books you know how good this one is. If you haven’t, don’t wait. Yes, it’s short. Is it worth it? Absolutely. It’s short because it’s sharp, witty, packed with AMAZING writing and internal monologue. The action sequences are second to none, but the humor of the protagonist makes me still laugh out loud; even on my eighth listen. Top 5 book material.

Empty space station, combat bots, AI people

I'm really enjoying this series - this book lives up to the promise of the previous 2. A spare and simple writing style fits the character of the protagonist and still provides gripping action and visuals. What makes someone a person?

Decent but not as good as the first two

This was still a good book, but it wasn't as good as the first two.

The story took longer to get into - it was a very slow build-up, which I guess is usually fine, but grated within a short story. It was still a good story when we got there, and was with book two the best parts were still when there were no humans around (though there was less of it in this book than the second).

Narration I felt wasn't as polished either. Or... maybe it was, but the narrator took his performance in a different direction than I would have liked? There are no mistakes per se, but there was a lot of breathing and breathiness to the narration which I would have preferred be removed in post-edit. This book wasn't a great experience with headphones unless you specifically want to hear someone draw in a breath before each paragraph.

Is this a good listen? Yes, definitely.
Is it worth 1 credit? Probably not.

At just over 3 hours long, I struggle to call this series value for money. Still, if you can pick this up for free via the audible plus catalogue (as I did) it's worth a listen.

book 3 was well worth a listen and the series a good binge

Love Murderbot

Would love for them to be longer with more Murderbot, but short and sweet woks too.

It’s interesting watching It learn the world and It’self.

Enjoyable but too short

As much as I enjoy these books, they are way too short. They should have been combined into a single novel. Yes, I chose to pay for them, but when I get to the end I'm just left feeling a bit ripped off. I can get an equally good book that lasts 25 + hours for the same price as a Murderbot book which is less than 4

Favourite Audiobook Series

These books are so good, and the narrator adds to it rather than just making it more convenient

Loved this episode

I’m really enjoying the whole series, but this one in particular is great. Good story and great narration too.

Offt

Well, that hurts.

I appreciated this novella a lot more the second time.

Excuse me while I go have an emotion.... or maybe I'll just re-watch the entirety of The Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon so I can put off feeling feelings.

Too short

It’s a great shame that murderbot is so addictive because the stories are too short. Poor value in quantity. Quality? Can’t argue with that.
