Story
Everyone loves Mathias. Naturally, when he discovers it’s his destiny to save the world, he dives in headfirst, pulling his best friend, Aaslo, along for the ride. However, saving the world isn’t as easy, or exciting, as it sounds in the stories. The going gets rough, and folks start to believe their best chance for survival is to surrender to the forces of evil, which isn’t how the prophecy goes. At all. As the list of allies grows thin and the friends find themselves staring death in the face, they must decide how to become the heroes they were destined to be.

Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. War has raged ever since. Arthur lives with his father, a fallen but proud former noble, in Border Village #49, along with the other good folks condemned to toil in service to the Baron. But Arthur has an edge: a stolen heart card that secretly fell into his possession, thanks to a dragon. It’s a priceless source of power for the Baron and the tyrant will kill to get it back. Invaluable, too, to a young man of spellcasting ambitions.

- By Daniel on 31-08-2017
Publisher's Summary
Rezkin is an elite warrior who aims to restore order in Ashai after Caydean's attack on the King's Tournament transformed former allies and trading partners into enemies. With no army and only a ragtag group of refugees, Rezkin must wrest control of the kingdom from the mad and powerful usurper, who seems bent on destruction, and this may not be the biggest challenge. If he fails, the kingdom will be ripped apart, and Rezkin will have violated Rule 1 - to protect and honor his friends - leaving him without country, purpose, or honor.

A bit of a Disappointment
What did you like about this audiobook?
Love both the writer and narrator
How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?
I have so enjoyed the previous books but this one has lost direction, It is extremely short in comparison and the ending is so abrupt you feel like someone torn the back half out.

great voices
Great voices. book not as good as the first two, but I think only because the story changed from very personal to interactions with a lot more people and dialogue. It was a natural progression and needed to happen but did not enjoy quite as much.

I really dont know what happened here. Went from a good story with a solid base for world building and magic system. NOW its as if he threw his hands up in the air and said "Who cares ill mox shit up".
Completely lost interest now which is an utter shame as i have re listened to the first 2 books atleast 5 times each. Patheic.
