Publisher's Summary

A fantastic new novella from the master of magic and adventure. Best-selling author Raymond E. Feist returns to the city of Krondor and one of his most loved characters, Jimmy the Hand.

The Crawler: a name whispered in fear...

In the crime-ridden back alleys of Krondor, a rival gang has sprung up to threaten the Upright Man's Mockers. Does the Crawler control the rival gang? Where does his power come from? And does it threaten the peace of the Kingdom?

James, personal squire to Prince Arutha of Krondor, but in the underworld known as the thief and trickster Jimmy the Hand, must travel to Kesh in disguise. There, working with William, lieutenant of the prince's household guard and son of the magician Pug, and Jazhara, niece to the Keshian lord Hazara-Khan, he must attempt to unmask the mysterious Crawler and rid Krondor of his influence.

Great story, just a little short for the price

The story was enjoyable. It took a bit to get used to this narrator after so many done by Peter Joyce. I just felt the story was a little short for the price.

It’s different

So... I don’t really like this one. The reader was fine but he was not the one who read the rest of the books which made it a bit jarring in that people sounded different and had different ways of saying their names. I think I would have been fine with this but it’s only 3h so right as I got used to it he is done. From a story perspective it’s a bit weak to. I won’t say more for spoilers but it’s a low for the series.

2/3 Epic Book - 1/3 Rushed Ending

For the first two thirds of this book I thought I was on another winner as the first two books of the series - plenty of build and background, some excellent potential to continue the series... but then in the last third of the book it wrapped up quite quickly, and without spoilers left me thinking "was that supposed to be the ending?".

The change of narrator was also a bit disappointing, given Jimmy has a unique character to him straight from the mind of the original narrator - but is someone different for this third and last book.

It was good to listen to nonetheless, and if someone had finished books 1 and 2 I would say this is still worth reading. But I can't get away from the shortness of the books ending, or the change in narrator.

Nicely narrated.

And that's about it. Where's the rest of it?
That was a dismal ending to The Crawler story arc.
The only good point was the narrator, it was a nice change to hear else other than Peter Joyce read a Midkemia book. Not that there's anything wrong with Peter Joyce.

What happened to Peter Joyce?!?!

I have listened to every book so far in this series and have become used to Peter Joyces' narration. This narrator was talented and easy to listen to though rang oddly in my ears after a few hundred hours of Peter. Great book as always.

love the book not the voice

The book is very good and gives a great little window to a in between books. But can't really adjust to the reader.

Short

Not as good as his previous novels in this series. Too much money for 3 hrs of listening. It tidied up a few loose ends but I question whether it was worth it. I’m sure Raymond could have put more thought to it and created his normally wonderful novels rather than a novella.

Hmmm

I agree, this was too short and not worth the value of the buy. A little disappointed 😕

Finally correct pronunciation

Good story about Jimmy setting up his spy network. William and the Keshian magician are along for the ride. A bit short
